The purpose of this template would be as follows: If a user is currently grounded by their parents (this would usually be a teen using this template) they would put this template on their talk page, so that people would know that they can’t go on wikiHow for a period of time. It would go as follows:
I am currently grounded.
I may be unavailable for a short time. You may contact me on my talk page, but I will likely not get back to you in a timely manner. Once I am ungrounded, I will get back to you as soon as possible.
I think this template will be quite helpful. You can find it here: https://wikihow.com/User:PianoLover1016/TemplateDraftGrounded
If this is found to be something helpful, I will start to create the actual template.
I support the creation of this template. I probably would not use this template myself, but I can see how it would be useful for some contributors. Also, we have templates for school and school breaks, so this template would fit in well.
Also, @PianoLover1016
, it looks like the draft template you linked to has a formatting error with the placement of the exclamation points. I can try to fix it if that’s okay with you.
Okay, please do! Thanks for helping out!
For userboxes, I think you can create them without consensus. If it was virtually any userbox and it was not hateful I would support it. So this one I can support as well.
Article templates, warning templates, and meta-templates need consensus. User page templates do not for the most part.
Well, I can’t seem to fix it. It seems that wikiHow does not like displaying images on the left. Maybe someone else will know how to fix it.
Templates mainly for meta use (like {{userlinks}} for noticeboards).
I think this would be good. My thought was, though, if you’re grounded, would you be allowed to go on a device to add the template if you can’t go on wikiHow (it seems that you wouldn’t be “allowed” on wikiHow, but correct me if I’m wrong here)? Other than that, I think it could be helpful!
Well, the way I thought of it, the user could ask permission to quickly put the template on their page. But yes, some parents may not let their teen do that, which is something I thought of while putting together the template.
Okay, I think I’ll start creating the template, since most of the people here seem to be in favor of this template.
Although I’d be in support of this template’s creation, I know I won’t be able to use it myself - as I’ve graduated and am definitely no-kid!
Hooray! The template page was created, and the alignment of the exclamation marks was fixed. You can see the template here : https://wikihow.com/Template:Grounded
I love that word “ungrounded” : )
yeah me too! (Also, could an admin come around and close the thread? The template was created :D)
