  • Question
How much practice do I need to improve my performance in order to make it to the team?
    Donagan
    Top Answerer
It is hard to say without knowing your skill level. Generally, the more you practice, the better you get. It's really not possible to practice too much!
  • Question
Is it normal for my arm to hurt when throwing a ball?
    Community Answer
If you are just starting to play volleyball, it will hurt when you bump or serve the ball, leaving red dots/bruises on the wrist area. But as you keep on playing volleyball, your arms will get more used to making contact with the ball and it won't hurt as much. Plus you may be using muscles you don't normally use, so they need time to adjust and build strength.
  • Question
Why do they use that kind of ball?
    Donagan
    Top Answerer
It bounces well, and it's light enough that it usually doesn't hurt when it hits you.
  • Question
Do I need to use knee pads?
    Community Answer
If you're playing competitively, on a team, or going to practice, you should have knee pads. If you're playing for fun, they're optional.
  • Question
When I hit the ball from behind the line, my arm starts to hurt. Is that normal?
    Sammieburrito
    Community Answer
Yeah, that is normal. You just have to keep your arm strong and use a light ball when you're serving.
  • Question
How long can I hold the ball?
    Emily Newton
    Community Answer
You are not allowed to catch or hold the ball. This would result in a point for the opposing team. When you’re setting, it’s not catching the ball, it's just flicking your wrist when you contact it.
