This inappropriately splits the clause: How to Get a License to Ship Cargo from the Federal Maritime Commission
changing to this sorts the clauses appropriately:
How to Get a License from the Federal Maritime Commission to Ship Cargo
You can use the {{title}} template to ask for a title change.
Just go on the article page and put {{title| Requested title here
}}, like this: {{title|How to Get a License from the Federal Maritime Commission to Ship Cargo}}
.
If you want to give a further explanation, do so on the discussion page of the article.

I don’t think we’d be changing this title right now, given that changing titles results in a drop in readership (wikiHaus Labs: September 24
, August 20
). We’d probably have to wait until that issue is fixed.

I think the main issue with readership is that redirects are not being indexed as they are supposed to. This issue can easily be fixed by, well, fixing the indexing problem with redirects.

It doesn’t mean not reporting them.
I agree, they should be marked for moving if needed. I just wanted to give fair warning that it might not be fixed for awhile, so that you didn’t feel like we were ignoring you after you put the tag on

I don’t really have an interest in when they fix things on the backend. Just want to report and go on with life, which is already too short.
I think it would be good to say that renames are not going to happen to popular articles for a while. I identified the issue to be the redirects, as normally redirects should be indexed and point directly to the target. But they are not. And until wikiHow staff fix that, we are not renaming any popular pages anytime soon.
You are posting an “answer” to a question that I never asked.
If Staff wants to rename this, fine.
If Staff does not want to rename this, fine.If Staff never wants to rename this, fine.
If Staff does not want to rename this right now, fine.
If they want to rename it later, it’ll be posted.
If anyone needs to keep reposting an “answer” to a question I never asked, that’s fine. But it is not posted as a response to my post. Post 1 was 18 hrs; next 9 hrs, with every post in between referring to the same thing. I really do read what’s posted. It really helps when a reply doesn’t jump into what someone has not asked or even hinted about… like as if I’d said “why won’t they change this title?!” (which I never said or implied)
Having worked on other Q&A sites and managing my own multiple websites, I really do know and understand how redirects work, about SEO practices, and how petulant that Google search algorithms can be about not indexing what webmasters or companies want indexed and easily searched.
If I sound grouchy, I am. I simply want to report something and move on, not have these posts that make it sound like I’m demanding x title be changed when I’m not demanding anything
.
Breathe…
Nobody’s saying you’re demanding anything. People are just trying to be a mix of considerate and ahead of the curve, and answer questions you might have. If you’re feeling grumpy, you can step away for a bit and get some air - you’re not obligated to respond immediately (or at all).

Thanks for letting us know, @CageyCat
.
Everyone is also welcome to continue to add small title changes to this form
. I’ve gone ahead and added it there so Chris can decide if it’s a good contender for his test

Thank you, but I was feeling grumpy because I was being told something 4x. Once was enough, especially considering I never asked that anyway. No one is obligated to answer beyond what is asked, and in fact, it can become very
off-putting.
