Do you want to survey your friends on Facebook? While Facebook doesn't offer an option to create surveys, you can create polls that other people can vote on. You can create a Facebook poll on your Story if you're using the mobile app on your iPhone or iPad, or in a Facebook Group on any device. Keep reading to learn how to add polls to your stories or in Groups on your phone or computer.
Making a Facebook Survey (Poll)
To make a Facebook story poll, open the Facebook app and start creating a new story. In the Stickers menu, choose Poll . To make a poll in a group, start making a new post and click the Poll button. Add your question and possible answers, then post it to the group.

Creating a Poll in a Story (Mobile)

1Open the Facebook app on your phone or tablet. It's the blue and white "f" icon typically found on the home screen or in the app drawer. Although Facebook no longer has a free poll option that works on your News Feed, you can poll your friends on your desired topic by creating a story. [1] X Research source

2Tap + . It's at the top-left corner of your News Feed, in front of other stories from your Facebook friends.Advertisement

Add a photo or video. To create a poll, you'll need to start with an image or video. Tap an option from your camera roll, or choose a style from the top to create something new.
- If it's your first time creating a story, follow the on-screen instructions to give Facebook appropriate access.

Tap the sticker icon. It's the smiley square at the top-right corner. The sticker panel will appear.

Type your question. Tap the Ask a question… field and type the question you want to ask your followers.

Tap YES and NO to customize the answers. If you're asking a yes-or-no question, you can leave these alone. Otherwise, customize each button by tapping it and entering your desired text.

8Tap Done at the top-right corner. This saves your poll question.
- You can add other poll questions in subsequent story posts.
- To adjust the privacy for your poll, tap the gear icon at the bottom-left corner and make your selections.

Tap Share to Story to post your poll. Now that you've shared your poll, viewers can cast their votes by tapping one of the two answers. Your poll will be available on your story for 24 hours before disappearing immediately. [4] X Research source

10View the results. To see how people are answering your poll, tap your story at the top of your News Feed, then swipe up when you see the poll question.
- Anyone who votes on your poll will also see the results after voting. They won't see who voted on what, but they'll see which answer has received the most votes thus far.
Creating a Poll in a Group (Mobile)

1Open Facebook on your phone or tablet. Tap the blue and white "f" icon typically found on the home screen or in the app drawer.
- Use this method if you want to poll the users of a Facebook Group you belong to.

2Navigate to your Groups. Tap the menu that looks like three horizontal lines at the bottom or top corner of the screen and select Groups .

3Select the Group you want to poll. Keep in mind that only users of the Group you select will be able to answer your poll questions.

4Select the Poll option. It's right under the "Write something…" field near the middle of the screen. It has a yellow icon with bar graph bars inside of it. [5] X Research source

5Decide if you want to post your poll anonymously. If you want to post anonymously, click the toggle at the top of the page.

6Type your poll question. Tap the Ask a question field to start typing the question you want to ask. Your poll question can be 200 characters or less.

7Tap Option # to add poll answers. The "#" starts at 1 and will increase with each option you add. You can also add a picture to your poll option by tapping the image icon on the right side of the option (next to the "X").
- To add more poll options, tap + Add another option… .
- You can add or delete poll options at any time, even after posting the poll.

8Choose your poll settings. You can choose to allow members to add new options, and you can choose to allow members to choose multiple options. Toggle these two settings on or off depending on what type of poll you're making (they are both, by default, toggled on).
- Once you're finished with your poll, tap Done .
- If someone adds their own answer to the poll, they will automatically vote for it once they add it. They can, however, change their choice to a different option at any time.

Creating a Group Poll on Desktop

1Open Facebook on your computer. Navigate to facebook.com and log in with your username and password.

2Open the list of Facebook Groups you're in. Click the Groups link in the left panel.

3Select the Group you want to poll. Keep in mind that only users of the Group you select will be able to answer your poll questions.

4Click the Poll option. It's right under the "Write something…" field near the middle of the screen. It has a yellow icon with bar graph bars inside of it.

5Decide if you want to post your poll anonymously. If you want to post anonymously, click the toggle at the top of the "Create post" window.

6Type your poll question. Click Write something… and type your poll question (or anything else you want to add to your post).
