Let your imagination run wild and generate a unique JJK power
In the world of Jujutsu Kaisen , “cursed techniques” are the supernatural powers characters use in combat (and other situations). They’re often wild, uber-powerful, and always fun to think about. Inventing your own cursed technique is a great way to get involved in the fandom and theory-craft your own ideas for the JJK universe. We’ll show you a list of our cool ideas, explain more about what cursed techniques are, and help you think of your own!
Cool Cursed Techniques
- Thunderhead allows the user to manifest low-hanging thunderclouds that charge with cursed energy. Once full, the thunderclouds strike at random with cursed lightning.
- Bingo Card lets the user make predictions for the next 24 hours on a bingo card. If they get a bingo, they’re granted a vision of how the following 24 hours will play out.
- Illustrated Man allows the user to imbue their tattoos with cursed energy, animating them as fragile but powerful shikigami that they can use in combat.

Cursed Technique Ideas
-
1Thunderhead The user summons low-hanging thunderclouds that cover an area, making it hard to see and navigate, like dense fog. The longer the clouds linger, the more the user can charge them with cursed energy, which manifests as bolts of dark lightning that occasionally strike and paralyze anyone inside the fog.
- Be careful, though! The bolts of cursed energy lightning don’t discriminate between friend or foe, so the user needs a second ability or an ally with an ability that can protect them if they’re in the clouds.
-
2Bingo Card The user manifests a 3x3-grid bingo card of cursed energy. Within the boxes, the user can write their predictions for the next hour, like what kinds of techniques others will use, who might get injured, or practically anything else. If one of these predictions happens, a mark is added to the bingo card. If the user achieves a “Bingo,” they’re granted a vision of the next 24 hours, allowing them to predict the future accurately.
- The more specific or unlikely the user’s guesses, the sharper and more accurate their vision of the future will be.
- If the user doesn’t get a bingo, the bingo card dissipates, and the user must wait another 48 hours to play again.

3Riverwalk The user manifests “rivers” of cursed energy that flow from their feet and along the ground. These “rivers” stay in place wherever the user walks, creating pathways on the ground. When the user walks or runs along these paths, they become invisible and can move incredibly quickly.
- Manifesting a river takes a lot of cursed energy, so the user quickly becomes exhausted and must use normal weapons.
- The user can reabsorb the rivers to regain cursed energy.
-
4Livestream The user activates their cursed energy to manifest a spy shikigami (a creature the user controls) that follows a single target, letting the user spy on them. The shikigami is small but visible, so the user must be sneaky. Also, the user can “record,” committing the stream to their memory, much like photographic memory.
- The user can manifest as many shikigami as they wish, but managing multiple shikigami takes a lot of skill and cursed energy.
- Since this isn’t a combat technique, it’s best used to support other curse users in battle.
-
5Encore The user expends the rest of their available cursed energy to create a domain expansion that resembles a concert hall and which traps the enemy. When the user makes a bowing motion, it reactivates the technique, and the trapped enemy takes all the damage and other negative effects they suffered over the last 4 minutes (about the length of a song), repeating every attack that hit them over that time.
- This is a finishing technique that is only used to end a battle, since it uses huge amounts of cursed energy.
-
6Hatchling The user creates a domain expansion around themselves that resembles an egg. While in the egg, the user is unable to move, much like being in a coma. The egg incubates over time while the user changes and strengthens inside. If the egg is broken, the user is vulnerable and weak, so they must find a way to protect themselves or hide the egg beforehand. The longer they’re in the egg, the more abilities they gain once they “hatch.” The levels of abilities are:
- Level 1: The user sprouts wings, granting the power of flight.
- Level 2: The user gains talons and claws with deadly sharpness.
- Level 3: The user’s body transforms into a bird of prey, with enhanced eyesight, stamina, and overall strength.
-
7Paparazzi The user manifests a camera using their cursed energy. When they take a photo using the camera, it prints a hard copy of the photo immediately. The photo takes some minutes to develop, but once it does, the user may use it like a voodoo doll, manipulating whoever or whatever is in the photo with other cursed techniques.
- The photos have weak connections to the people in them, so they don’t allow for complete control, but enough to cause problems for the user’s opponent.
- Taking multiple photos enhances the effect. For example, the user could take a stack of photos of their opponent, then throw the stack in a fire to inflict major burn damage.
- A photo is voided if someone in it destroys it themself. This deals no damage to that person.
-
8Hedgehog’s Dilemma The user charges their skin with cursed energy. Anything that touches their skin begins to vaporize, making the user a walking hazard. This is effective for both offense and defense. The drawback is that using this technique is incredibly painful for the user, so they must choose to activate it at exactly the right moment, since using it for more than a few seconds at a time is unbearable.
- “The Hedgehog’s Dilemma” is a famous philosophical problem—a hedgehog may yearn for touch and companionship, but its spikes keep others away.
-
9Illustrated Man The user expends cursed energy to manifest the tattoos on their skin as shikigami that peel away and aid the user in battle. Any tattoo is fair game, as long as it’s on the user’s own body, so the possibilities are endless. However, the tattoo shikigamis are delicate and easily “erased” in battle. Once erased, they don’t return to the user’s body. This means that the user must keep getting new tattoos to replace the erased ones, and must be careful and strategic about how they deploy them.
- The user mainly uses their tattoos as spies or illusions. However, certain tattoos, like those of weapons, can be used effectively for damage.
-
10Kentucky Derby The user expends a large amount of cursed energy to expand a domain. The domain is a simple, plain racetrack, muddy with rain. Once inside the domain, all cursed energy is null, and nobody can use their cursed technique. Whoever crosses the finish line at the end of the track, however, is granted their cursed energy back.
- Once you enter the domain, it’s a footrace of pure human speed to see who can get their cursed energy back before the other, lending them a huge moment of advantage in battle. Hope you’re a fast runner!

Section 3 of 3:
Making Your Own Cursed Techniques
-
1Imagine any sort of cool power you like. Want to walk on water? Hold your breath forever? Fly as fast as a jet? Whatever you can imagine, it’s possible for a jujustu sorcerer! To start creating your cursed technique, think about a cool power you’ve always wanted, and use that as a foundation. Use your imagination ! It can be anything you like, and nothing is too powerful or too ridiculous—JJK includes many of its own crazy powers. [2] X Research source
- Most techniques in JJK are combat-focused, but others are just plain useful, like those that let users spy on others.

-
2Come up with a way to “activate” the technique. Most cursed techniques in JJK require a certain action to activate. For example, Aoi Todo’s technique, where he swaps places with another person, is activated by clapping his hands. [3] X Research source Other abilities just need the user to concentrate and channel their cursed energy. This is your chance to come up with a super cool and stylish way to show other sorcerers that you mean business.
- You could activate your ability with a word or catchphrase, or make it activate when certain conditions are met, like you can only use it when it’s raining.
-
3Think up a major weakness or limit to the cursed technique. This part is important! In JJK, no matter how powerful a cursed technique is, there’s always a weakness or a way to beat it. This is how the magic system stays balanced and makes sure nobody is too overpowered. Think of a fun and clever way to limit your own ability to put the finishing touches on it. This makes it more interesting and fun to think about!
- For example, Nobara’s ability lets her hammer cursed nails at her opponent. These nails are extremely deadly, but it’s hard to aim them at mobile or evasive opponents. [4] X Research source
- Or, Nanami’s cursed technique allows him to see a target’s weak points and sever their limbs, which is super powerful. However, it’s only useful in close combat and is less useful at long range.
-
4Come up with a “binding vow” to make your technique more interesting. Another way to put a limit on your ability is through a “binding vow,” which is a promise you make in exchange for power. It’s a tradeoff—as long as you don’t break your vow, your technique is stronger.
- For example, Nanami’s vow means he has to limit the amount of cursed energy he uses. After a set amount of time, though, he can enter “Overtime,” which allows him to use more cursed energy than other people usually could. [5] X Research source
