Dear Uncle Nathan,
[Why you’re writing them] I miss you a lot so I figured I’d write you some letters so we can stay in touch. My mom first brought up the idea so don’t be surprised if you get a letter from her too! I know she misses you just as much.
[Your time commitment] I’m pretty busy in my first year of college but I’ll definitely make time to write you a letter about once a week.
[Details about your life] As for what’s going on with me, I have some good news… I got a full scholarship to study architectural engineering! I’m only one semester in and so far, I love it! My favorite class is one where our final project is to make a city-center (little building models) designed to be earthquake resistant. It’s pretty cool to think about how something I design could actually save people’s lives one day! Also, the professor who teaches that class really reminds me of you. He’s always so laid back and cracks jokes during lectures with that same dry sense of humor you have.
[Memories] Remember how we always used to make up little skits during Thanksgiving while everyone else was doing dishes? Well, I’m taking an improv theatre class an an elective and it kind of feels like that (only some people take themselves way too seriously! Ha!). I’ll never forget that one time you put the turkey bones in your hair and shouted like a caveman.
[Shared interests] By the way, I watched this documentary last week that you would have loved. It’s called Ancient Stones. It came out a few years ago but since you’re into ancient civilizations and stuff I think you’d really like it. I hope they have a good selection of movies in there.
[Open-ended questions] So how are you holding up? Are you reading anything cool in there?
Write me back!
Love,
Peter
