PDF download Download Article

Do you need to update your email password on your iPhone? If you recently changed your email password on another device, you'll need to update your iPhone's settings so your email can continue to sync to the Mail app. Since the release of iOS 18, you'll probably need to completely remove and re-add the email account to update the password. Fortunately, this only takes a few seconds and won't cause you any headaches. We’ll also explain how to update your Apple Account password or change your password in a third-party email app.

Changing an Email Password in iOS 18+

You can no longer enter a new password for an existing email account in iPhone Mail app. If you need to update your password, you will need to go to Settings > Apps > Mail > Mail Accounts , delete the account, and re-add it using the new password.
