1. ...K-pop as a genre originally began in 1925? Modern K-pop as we know it started in 1992 with Seo Taiji and the Boys, but the very first K-pop album was I Pungjin Sewol (이 풍진 세월; 이 風塵 歲月; lit. This Tumultuous Time) by Park Chae-seon and Lee Ryu-saek.

2. ...BTS was the first K-pop group to perform on Saturday Night Live ? They introduced the genre to an international audience by performing a few songs from their album Map of the Soul: Persona .

3. ...“BTS” stands for “Bangtan Sonyeondan,” which translates to “Bulletproof Boyscouts”? We think it’s a fitting name!

4. ...Jackie Chan manages a K-pop band? The five-member boy band is called JJCC: the first “JC” stands for “Jackie Chan,” and the final “JC” stands for “joint” and “cultures.” Altogether, it forms “Jackie Chan Joint Cultures,” referring to the band’s mission of sharing K-pop with cultures around the world.
