  • Question
You folks have a wonderful sense of humor. Or, are you serious?
    TomPN
    Top Answerer
This is a serious method of making gold from mercury. However, as stated, it isn't economically viable. A similar process is used to make other artificial elements, such as plutonium, californium, ununoctium, etc.
  • Question
    Isn't mercury poisonous?
    Community Answer
Mercury is a very toxic or poisonous substance that people can be exposed to in several ways. If it is swallowed, like from a broken thermometer, it mostly passes through your body and very little is absorbed. If you touch it, a small amount may pass through your skin, but not usually enough to harm you.
  • Question
Where do I acquire a particle accelerator?
    Mr c
    Top Answerer
Acquiring a particle accelerator is a complex process and typically requires significant resources and expertise. These devices are large, expensive, and highly specialized equipment that are usually owned and operated by research institutions, universities, or national laboratories. If you're interested in using a particle accelerator for research or other purposes, you may need to collaborate with or gain access to a facility that already has one. Contacting research institutions or universities with particle accelerator facilities would be a good starting point to inquire about access or collaboration opportunities.
  • Question
How much does it cost to make this gold? Is gold used globally?
    Mr c
    Top Answerer
Creating gold from mercury isn't feasible or cost-effective. While alchemists historically attempted to transmute base metals into gold, modern science has shown it to be impossible without nuclear reactions, which are extremely costly and not practical for creating gold on a large scale. Additionally, such processes would likely require vast amounts of energy and resources, making the cost exorbitant. As for its use, if gold could be created inexpensively, it might have widespread applications, but the reality is that natural gold remains costly and is used in various industries and investments worldwide.
  • Question
After adding the neutron, does the gold become liquid and mix with mercury?
    Mr c
    Top Answerer
Adding neutrons to gold does not cause it to liquefy or mix with mercury. Gold is a stable element and doesn't react with neutrons in a way that would change its physical state or cause it to mix with mercury. Gold remains a solid metal under normal conditions, and its properties are not altered by simply adding neutrons.
  • Question
Can I turn lead into mercury using this method?
    Mr c
    Top Answerer
You cannot turn lead into mercury using any method. Lead and mercury are distinct chemical elements with different atomic structures and properties, and current technology does not allow for their transmutation.
  • Question
Can a molten salt reactor be used for creating gold from mercury because it is safer and cheaper?
    Mr c
    Top Answerer
Molten salt reactors (MSRs) are nuclear reactors that use molten salt as both fuel and coolant. While they have safety and cost advantages for electricity generation, they are not designed for transmuting elements like gold. Transmuting elements involves nuclear reactions incompatible with MSRs designed for electricity generation.
  • Question
I have a lot of waste alluvial and sand gold. How can I use it?
    Mr c
    Top Answerer
If you have waste alluvial and sand gold, you can refine it to extract pure gold, recycle it through a precious metal refinery or gold buyer, or explore small-scale mining operations. Consider researching or seeking expert advice for innovative methods to extract and utilize gold from the waste material. Always keep environmental, regulatory, and safety factors in mind before proceeding.
