The most popular pet in the world has always been the dog! Now, thanks to this article, you can be one in Animal Jam with the help of this great article! Come along!

Method 1
Method 1 of 8:

Dressing

  1. 1
Pick an animal and a color. The animal should look like your dog's breed, for example, a Pomeranian would be animal of your choice, but a husky would look more like a fox. If you're gonna be a puppy, you should be a small animal until you grow up (unless you are a small dog breed, then you can stay the same) When picking colors, use natural dog colors such as brown, gray, white, and light tan! Some breeds have specific colors natural to their breed, and can't be certain colors unless they are a mix breed, so if you are a purebred you might want to look up what colors your breed comes in.
  2. Sometimes your owner might want to give you a collar she got for you, so sometimes it might be best to just go without a collar. Good collar choices would be a necklace, or a spiked collar, though spiked collars are usually for more aggressive dogs.

  3. 3
If your dog breed can have them, choose a pattern. Patterns can be optional most of the time (though there are some breeds always have a pattern, such as the Dalmatian).

Method 2 of 8:

Being Adopted

  1. 1
Enter the Pillow Room, sit down, and say "Please adopt me!" Along with this, you can also state other information about your character, such as their gender, name (if you've picked out one) breed, whether they are a puppy or grown-up dog, and also whether they can become a parent when they are older or not. If your character has a disability such as blindness, deafness, etc. It's also a good idea to state what it is.
    • Another good idea would be to state what kind of people problems your character has, like whether they can handle kids, cats, and dogs or not, and whether they are aggressive or friendly.
  2. Follow them to their den. Next, move on to the next method that fits your character's age.
    • For example, be a puppy if you're a puppy, and an adult if you're an adult.

Method 3 of 8:

Being a Puppy

  1. 1
Eat. Right now you are small, so you have to eat small amounts of healthy puppy food three times a day! If you have a dog mom, you can drink her milk, too. However, there are some foods that will make dogs sick, so here is a list of foods that could make your character sick or even kill your character if you are okay with your character dying young!
    • Raisins
    • Grapes
    • Tea
    • Garlic
    • Onions
    • Avocados
    • Salt
    • Chocolate
    • Popcorn
    • Coffee
    • Walnuts
    • Spaghetti
  2. 2
Drink water. Water is essential to every living thing's health, so you'll need to drink lots of it!
  3. 3
If you are okay with going wee and doing stinks, but your owner doesn't clean up the wee and stinks, get sick.
  4. 4
Get lots of exercise. Make sure your owner takes you on lots of walks!
  5. 5
Get brushed by your owner. If your breed has longer fur, you will need to get brushed more often, but if you are a short furred dog, you won't need it as much.
  6. 6
Chew lots of chew toys and if your owner doesn't brush your teeth, get a dental sickness.
  7. 7
If your owner bathes you too much even when you're clean, catch mange.
  8. 8
Get a friend. Dogs with no friends sometimes grow up sad and maybe even aggressive!
  9. 9
Grow into an adult dog, when it's time. Move to the next method. How about in 7 role play days?

Acting as an Adult

  1. 1
Eat food. You will need to eat twice a day. However, there are some foods that will make dogs sick, so here is a list of foods that could make your character sick or even kill your character if you are okay with your character dying at this age!
    • Raisins
    • Grapes
    • Tea
    • Garlic
    • Onions
    • Avocados
    • Salt
    • Chocolate
    • Popcorn
    • Coffee
    • Walnuts
  2. 2
Drink water. Water is essential to every living thing's health, so you'll need to drink lots of it!
  3. 3
Get lots of exercise. Make sure your owner takes you on lots of walks!
  4. 4
Get brushed by your owner. If your breed has longer fur, you will need to get brushed more often, but if you are a short furred dog, you won't need it as much.
  5. 5
Chew lots of chew toys. If your owner doesn't brush your teeth, get a dental sickness.
  6. 6
Beware of being too clean. If your owner bathes you too much even when you're clean, catch mange.
  7. 7
Consider breeding. If you have access to outside or have another dog buddy in the house of the opposite gender, consider breeding. Don't actually do mating roleplay, however. Say "Want to be the father of my puppies?" or "Want me to be the father of your puppies?" If you don't have access to a buddy, but you have access to outside, then, if your character is female, suddenly act like your character is pregnant.
    • If you have decided to breed and your character is female, move on to the next method. If not, you can continue living your life as a dog until you have decided it is time to become a senior dog, then skip to the senior method.

Method 5 of 8:

Taking Care During Pregnancy

  1. 1
Eat even more food than before! You will need to make sure your unborn puppies get all the nutrition they need!
  2. 2
Look for a good area to keep your puppies in. A good place would be comfortable, away from the humans, and just big enough to fit both you and your puppies.
  3. 3
Decide how many puppies you want. You can have as many puppies as you'd like, whether it be just one, or a whopping 27!
  4. 4
Get the puppies, when it's time. How about in 2 role play days? Once you have decided to get the puppies, go to the pillow room and say "Looking for puppies!" Once you have adopted all the puppies you want, you can go back home with your brand new litter of puppies.

Method 6 of 8:

Caring for Puppies

  1. 1
Give them lots of tasty milk. They will need to get lots of food so they can grow up into big healthy dogs!
  2. 2
Continue to eat extra food like you did in your pregnancy. You need food to generate milk for your puppies!
  3. 3
Talk to your puppies and socialize with them. To make your puppies happy and well socialized, it's a good idea to talk to them, get to know them, and comfort them when they are upset! Maybe even try telling them bedtime stories before they go to sleep!
  4. 4
Introduce them to adult food, eventually. They can't drink milk forever, so they're gonna need to learn how to eat adult food! Try introducing them to the adult food and giving them less and less milk, more and more adult food, until they no longer drink milk!
  5. 5
Watch as your puppies mature and go out into the world on their own. After your puppies learn how to eat adult food and stop drinking milk, they no longer need you. You can stay friends with your puppies, and maybe if you want, breed again! If you decide you don't want to breed again, you can continue living your life as an adult dog and eventually, when you think it's time, go to the senior method.

Method 7
Method 7 of 8:

Becoming a Senior

  1. 1
Sleep more and exercise less. You are getting older now, so you are getting weaker and less active.
  2. 2
Socialize with other dogs and your humans more. Now that you are not able to exercise and play as often, the best source of entertainment you can get is from socialization.
  3. 3
Continue to eat, drink, be brushed and occasionally bathed.

Method 8 of 8:

Leaving for the Rainbow Bridge

  1. 1
Tell your dog friends that you will be going to a better place now. They will probably be very sad and will miss you very much.
  2. 2
    Go to your owner.
  3. 3
Explain to them that you're going to the Rainbow Bridge now. Remind them that you will meet them there. Tell them all about how much fun you had being their dog, and how you loved being their dog.
    • Say goodbye.
    • Sprout wings and fly away.
