Gross, but I've had dry, hard calluses on the balls of both of my feet for years. I can't afford to get a pedicure, so what can I do at home that will soften and smooth the skin? Are there creams or tools that actually work?

To get rid of tough calluses, apply urea cream to your feet at night, wrap Saran Wrap around them, and put socks on. In the morning, remove the socks and Saran Wrap and use a pumice stone to remove the calluses.

The urea cream will break down the calluses, and you can get in the shower in the morning and use a pumice stone and the skin will scrape off very easily. Afterwards, once you've done that process, you could just then hydrate that area with Eucerin Advanced formula foot cream.

I like to soak my feet in warm water for 10-20 minutes and then use ProLinc Callus Eliminator. Afterwards, I use a microplane rasp to remove the calluses off my feet (some people prefer a pumice stone, but the rasp works better for me). Finally, apply a generous amount of your favorite moisturizer to your feet, put some socks on, and enjoy a good night's sleep. Your calluses (or hopefully lack thereof) should look much better in the morning!

Have you tried using a foot peel? I've had some success with using foot peels to soften up my calluses, making it easier to remove them with something like a pumice stone.
