What does getting a tattoo feel like?
I've always really wanted a tattoo, but I'm kind of a wimp when it comes to pain. I've been thinking about getting it on my forearm or ribs, but how much does this actually hurt? Are there better spots to get tattooed that will be less painful? I'm honestly really open about the placement.

It all really depends on your personal pain tolerance, but the best way I can describe getting my tattoos was like a mix of stinging, scratching, and rubbing a sunburn. It's not the best feeling, but after a few tats it didn't bother me very much.
I will say that the ribs are pretty painful just because the skin is thinner and all the bones underneath. Forearm tattoos are a bit better, but they can be more painful right by your wrist and near your elbow where the skin is more sensitive. If you're looking for a less painful spot, I'd recommend maybe your shoulder or leg.

If you have a cat, I think it's like getting a cat scratch. But it depends. My most painful tattoo was on my hand (where the skin is thin and I'm bony) and my least painful tattoo was on my upper thigh (where I have a lot of fatty cushion). After you get a few tattoos you may get used to it.

If you're concerned about how painful your tattoo will be, it's worth the time and money to find a highly-skilled tattoo artist. I've gotten tattoos on both arms, at around the same place, and one was MUCH more painful than the other because the artist doing the tattoo wasn't that experienced. Never again!

As someone with a lot of tattoos your forearm is definitely less painful than the ribs. Ribs is one of the more painful spots I’ve had done. Also thin line tattoos hurt less because of the size of the needle
