When you're starting to look for a car, look up reviews on that car on sites such as Edmunds, KBB, and NHSTA to see how it compares to other vehicles. Look up the car to compare pricing between the makes and models you're interested in. Call 3-4 mechanics, including the dealership’s service center, to ask about the maintenance schedule and what the cost is.

When you're looking at a car, check the odometer to see how many miles it has. Take it out for a test drive to check the alignment, tires, lights, electronics, and gear shifting, and ensure they're all working properly. Check the oil and fluid levels to make sure they've been maintained. Look for tears, stains, burns, or other damage in the vehicle's interior to make sure it's been taken care of and maintained.

Most importantly, make sure the car feels "right" for you. Are you excited? Do you love it? Does it fit your lifestyle needs?
