After a long day of stocking, working the till, and cleaning, grocery store employees look forward to the time to finally shut the doors and call it a day. But, before you end the day, you must always make sure that everything is in order and ready for the next day before closing.
Steps

Make sure shelves are stocked. Go around the aisles and check to see if items are low in stock. Look in the back rooms to see if any of the items are available.

Make note of sales products. Keep up to date with the sales your grocery store offers.Advertisement

Make sure the back rooms are clean and clear. Shipments usually arrive at set dates early in the morning, so make sure it's not cluttered so that packages can be unloaded easily.
-
Clean out the meat/produce departments, bakery, and bathrooms. Be thorough when cleaning.
-
Clean up the floors. Vacuum the carpet, take out rugs and shake them, and sweep up the aisles.

Take out the trash. Put fresh bags in trash cans.

Break down any leftover cardboard to be recycled.

Make sure the money from the tills have been taken out and counted. This is to be done by the properly designated store manager or supervisor. The money is not to be counted by anyone else without direct authorization from the manager or on-duty supervisor.
-
Put covers over frozen bunkers if your store has them.

Start shutting of the lights in the frozen/refrigerated aisles. The lights switches are usually alongside the door or the side of the shelves.
-
Turn off the automatic doors. Make sure there are no customers left inside at this point.
-
Close and lock the store shed/warehouse.
-
Make sure that the front and back doors (with the exception of the designated exit) are locked.
-
Shut off lights, and make sure all employees are accounted for. Once everything is finished, the manager/supervisor will let the rest of the employees leave.Advertisement
