Sign up fro some clubs or sports that you're interested in. This is a great way to find friends. It's a lot easier to connect with someone if you share similar interests. So long as you're respectful and friendly, there is no reason you can't make friends!

In your essay, make sure that you say that you will take in the inputs of your fellow classmates. For example, "I will make sure all of your ideas are heard. Together, we will make this school thrive!" This naturally places an air of leadership around you and makes you seem fit for the job. Also, list a couple of your qualities which would be beneficial if you became president. This might seem a little bit like bragging when you are writing your speech, but when you present, it will send out a message to your audience that you are confident. Make sure to list what you are going to do for the school. Your ideas should be achievable, not too big or dreamy.
