In the new version of Minecraft, villagers must be willing to breed. While you can't totally control this, you can encourage them to breed by giving them specific amounts of food.

Composters are blocks which generate naturally in the village (if there is a farm/er). You can throw poisonous potatoes in there and eventually the composter will make bonemeal, which you can use to make crops grow faster.

  • Question

  • Question
How do you breed a zombie?
    SunPuppy

You can't. Zombies are hostile mobs and cannot be bred. However, you might be able to do so if you download a mod made specifically for this purpose.
  • Question
    Do you need a garden?
    Seasalt25
    Top Answerer
No, you do not need a garden to breed villagers, but it can help. Villagers need food in order to breed, and you can give them food by throwing it near them and making sure the gamerule for mob griefing is on. However, if you have gardens and farmer villagers, the farmers will harvest the crops, which lets them get food and give it to other villagers, enabling them to breed automatically.
