Do I have to keep the father of the pups separate from them?

The father should not mind the pups. If he shows aggression, yes, keep him away, but mom, dad, and babies should be fine together. After a few weeks, you'll notice that mom and dad both get super sick of the pups. This is normal, but they should not be aggressive.

My 4.5lb Chihuahua is in heat and will be mating with another small Chihuahua in a couple of days. When she's due to have her pups, is it necessary for the vet to deliver or could I deliver on my own?

In principle, your dog can deliver her puppies on her own. However, if it is her first litter of puppies or earlier deliveries did not go well, you should call a vet a few days before your pup is going to deliver (which is most of the time about 62 days after mating) and ask the vet for advice. Also, if you think anything is going wrong or you are just not sure, keep your vet on speed dial! Pregnancy and delivery can be dangerous for both your dog and her puppies so make sure you are safe!

How can I help my chihuahua sleep, we think she is pregnant? Her belly has gotten big and hard, she is almost two weeks. She seems to be more and more uncomfortable.
