  • Question
I have some guy friends that I'm not close with, but I still want to invite them in addition to my other friends. Would that be awkward?
    Community Answer
That wouldn't be awkward at all! It's a good way to get closer to them. Whether or not they decide to come is on them, but at least you took the initiative.
  • Question
What should I do for my 14th birthday at a theme park?
    Community Answer
Try to go on rides you can ride as a group. It's okay to split up every once in a while, but try to do things all together when possible. Also, go to the arcade and give your guests tickets. People really like getting to win, so you guys could work together to win a prize. Plan ahead of time where you want to eat so there's no conflict about where to go when it's time for lunch or dinner or whatever.
  • Question
A 14-year-old is not a child anymore, so would it still be okay if I include games?
    Community Answer
Of course! Even adults like to play games, so there's no reason you shouldn't have them at a 14-year-old's party.
  • Question
I'm a girl. How can I celebrate my birthday without spending to much money?
    Community Answer
If you have a group of friends, then you could throw a sleepover and have some snacks and a good movie and fun games. Maybe ask your mom to cook your favorite meal, and get some good cake, too.

  • Question
Can you have sex at a party?
    Community Answer
No, this wouldn't be acceptable, especially if you're fourteen. I know this may be tempting, but when you have sex, you are at your most vulnerable, and I'd wait until you have the right person at the right time when you're both thinking straight.
  • Question
Could I watch a horror movie at my party if there will be little kids around?
    Community Answer
You could, but it would be better to pick another type of movie so you don't end up scaring the kids and upsetting their or your parents.

  • Question
What kind of homemade gift, other than a card, can I make for my sister's 14th birthday?
    Community Answer
You could bake a cake or other treat that she likes. If you have a printer and computer you could design a word cloud or collage or piece of art. You could make her a quiz or puzzle that shows how well you know her. You could give her an "experience" as a gift (i.e., take her out for a picnic, clean her room for her, do an activity you both enjoy).
  • Question
How do I throw a party at a county fair?
    Community Answer
Usually all you have to do is call the fairgrounds and ask if they have a room open. They normally do.
  • Question
What if I have no friends?
    Community Answer
Celebrate with family! Tell them you want to organize a family get-together for your birthday. Of course, if you wanted, you could also take this opportunity to throw a party and get to know some people better. You might end up making some good friends.
  • Question
Would a bouncy house be babyish? They're really fun and this is my last party with all of my friends.

If you and your friends find bouncy houses fun, have one at your party. They're fine for just about any age, really. As long as you're happy, that's all that matters.

  • Question
What should I do if I have my 14th birthday at home?
    Community Answer
Invite a couple of friends over and have some of your favorite food, and then you can talk, play truth or dare, watch a movie, and open gifts. If you can't have friends over, do those things with your family.
  • Question
What games are acceptable to play?

You can play any kind of games! Board games would be fun, but you could also play active games like hide-and-seek. It's entirely up to you.
  • Question
My son is turning 14 in a month. He has a 15-year-old girlfriend who's turning 16 in 2 months. Can she still come to the party?
    Community Answer
Yes, although she may feel slightly out of place. You should ask her if she wants to come and let her know she will be around kids younger than her. If she already hangs out with your son's friends regularly, she's probably fine with it.
  • Question
I want to have a party at home, but my house is small and can't fit a lot of people, and i don't have a very big budget. What can I do?
    Community Answer
You could just have a smaller party for your closest friends, or you could ask a friend if you could have the party at your house. You could also have the party somewhere else, like a theme park or arcade, but that can get a little pricey.
  • Question
My birthday is coming up and I want to invite my group of friends. The problem is that there are two people who have been kind of mean lately. Is it okay to invite some friends and not others?
    Community Answer
You can do that, but you might end up creating a lot of drama, because the friends who don't get invited will almost definitely find out about it. A better option might be to sit these two friends down and talk to them about their behavior. You could say something like, "I've noticed you've been kind of rude lately, and it's been bothering me. I want to keep being friends with you, but I'm not sure I can do that if you're going to keep acting this way." If the conversation goes well, invite them to the party. If necessary, you can even lay some ground rules about how you'd like them to behave if they choose to attend.
  • Question
One of my "friends" has the same birthday as me, and I think my friends would go to her party over mine. How can I make sure my party will be better than hers, but still cheap?
    Anna Comeskey
    Community Answer
If you two are friends, then you can throw a combined party! If you throw a combined party, that means that you could go somewhere more expensive, like a theme park or pool, seeing as it will be two families splitting the cost rather than one. Or, if you don't want to have a combined party, ask her what day her party will be on, and make sure the parties are two days apart at least. Some parents don't want their kids going to parties two days in a row.
  • Question
Can I just have a house party for my birthday?
    Community Answer
Of course you can! You don't have to do anything complicated or involved, just buy some snacks and drinks and invite your friends over!
  • Question
What is a reasonable time to end the party?
    Community Answer
It depends on what time the party starts, but I would try to wrap it up around 9 or 10 PM.
  • Question
I don't want my party to be at home. What can I do for 20 people on a budget that is not at home?
    Community Answer
You could go bowling, to the movies, if it's summer you could have a pool party (or at the beach if there's one nearby), ice skating. Anything where you're doing a shared activity is good for 20 people. You might think it's a little boring, but you could always go to a park and have a picnic, bring some activities and food.
  • Question
I just learned that I am going to Germany for someone's wedding and I will be there on my birthday without my friends. How am I supposed to have fun?
    Community Answer
When in Germany, enjoy the food and culture, and do what the Germans do, which is shout everyone else to drinks and food at your expense! Since your friends aren't there, choose one or two people from the wedding guests, people you've met and like.
  • Question
Is it okay to do a normal cake and games party or is it just for kids?

That is a cheap and fun idea suitable for all ages. Add some more teenage things in, like video games. If you are running out of ideas, just make time to hang out with your friends.
  • Question
I have only one "best friend" but there are some good girls. But they don't really share their secrets with me but we talk sometimes (mostly about singers). Do I invite them or not?

You don’t have to be close friends with these people to invite them. Just determine how many people you want at your party. This can be a good time to strike up other conversation with them and become friends for sure.
  • Question
My 14th birthday is coming up but I'm celebrating the day before with my dad and little sister since my parents divorced. Also, we have a financial problem. What should I ask to do for my birthday?

Just go for cheap. Use mainly your allowance, and maybe just invite some friends over to spend the night. Or just have a family sleepover.

You could try: Going to the movies, playing a video game together, going to a nearby bakery and trying all their items, playing some pranks on stranger or going to an amusement park.
  • Question
I'm a boy, how can i celebrate my party while saving money?
    Sage Hudson
    Community Answer
You could have a sleepover with your friends. Set a budget for snacks and drinks, or have a parent buy it for you. You could also ask everyone to bring their favorite snack to share. It's inexpensive and you and your friends will still have a blast!
  • Question
I can't pick a theme and I am into go kart racing but my parent said no.
    Sage Hudson
    Community Answer
If you can't pick a theme, invite some friends over for a sleepover. Have pizza, snacks, play video games, etc. Though it may be simple, you and your friends will still have fun. (And because it's less expensive, your parent will most likely say yes.) You might also play some go kart related games or watch something about go karting together as part of the sleepover.
