  • Question
My skin has a yellow undertone and many deep acne scars. What primer and foundation should I use?
    Buggylu25
    Top Answerer
Use pore-filling, smoothing primers to flatten out any texture from the acne scars. Find a foundation that matches your skin tone with golden undertones, perhaps with medium to full coverage if you want to cover the acne scars more.
  • Question
I have darkness around my upper lip and chin area, very oily skin and large pores. What combination of products would work best?
    Buggylu25
    Top Answerer
For the darkness around your mouth, use a peach or orange color-correcting concealer underneath foundation. This will neutralize the darkness. Find primers, foundations, and concealers that are mattifying to reduce the shine from natural face oils. Use a pore-filling primer to smooth the skin and to prevent cream makeup from looking textured.
  • Question
I need a primer that mattifies, color corrects, resists sweat, and smooths the skin. Can I use all of these at once without it causing problems with my skin or makeup?
    Buggylu25
    Top Answerer
You can combine various primers, but use small amounts of each. You could also apply each primer to the specific areas that need the most attention from a particular product.

  • Question
If I had acne can I use sweat-resistant primer, or will it clog my pores?
    Cecilia Flores
    Top Answerer
If you wear face makeup, it'll clog your pores unless you wash your face after you wear it. If a primer works for you, then use it!

If you have normal skin, it just comes down to whether you want your primer to be luxury, or whether you want coverage. Drugstore brands work just fine and keep the costs down.
  • Question

  • Question
My skin is combination, having oil on T-section of my face. So what type of primer should I buy?
    Erin Ward
    Community Answer
You can try both a mattifying and a hydrating or illuminating and apply the mattifying one where you are oily and the luminizing one where you are more dry or just to the high points of your face if you are more normal there. If you only want to buy 1 primer, just apply your skincare and then lotion all over, let it sink in 15 minutes or so, and apply a mattifying primer to your t-zone.
  • Question
I’m 55 and have combo skin. Used to be oily 24/7. Now age is causing dryness. I have some small acne scars and rosacea too. What foundation and primer should I use?
    Community Answer
Make sure you use a balancing moisturizer first (both hydrating and mattifying). Then, follow up with a hydrating and soothing primer to make sure your skin does not dry out over the day and produce more oils. Look for dimethicone on the ingredient list, since this helps to mattify the complexion and fights the accumulation of oil. Soothing ingredients like niacinamide, centella asiatica, and chamomile, further up the redness-reducing benefits. Prepping skin with a green-tinted primer, is also one of the most effective ways to knock out rosacea-induced redness.
  • Question
