Coordinate the size of the furniture you choose with the size of the room. You don't want large furniture in a small room since it will make the room feel cramped. Similarly, small furniture in a large room can feel off.
  • Question
I want to redecorate my room by rearranging the furniture since I'm going into high school. How can I ask my parents for help?

    Community Answer
Start by coming up with a plan for how you'd like the room to look, and draw a floor plan. If you want to get anything new, ask if you can do chores around the house to earn money to pay for new things like bedding, pictures, throw pillows, or even small pieces of furniture, like a desk. Sit them down and ask them nicely if they'd be willing to help you with moving the furniture one weekend. Show them that you've thought about what you want to do, and tell them you want to know what they think. Try to be understanding if they say no, and come up with other solutions, like cleaning your room and getting rid of clutter and older items to make room for your new style.
  • Question
What if you don't have much money to decorate the bedroom?
    Samantha L. Campbell
    Community Answer
If you don't have a large budget for your bedroom, try rearranging the furniture and using the items that you already have. Go through your stuff and make the room more organized, and pick items that you can use as decorations. Make your own pictures for the walls, and look online for free furniture that other people might not want.
  • Question
How should I decorate if the room is shared?
    Samantha L. Campbell
    Community Answer
If you're decorating for 2 girls, try to choose a neutral color like white or light gray for the walls. Then, let each of them pick a color for the accent colors. Base the decorations around your new color scheme, and try to include items that they can both use, like a shared bookshelf and matching dressers. If the girls want more space, think about investing in a privacy screen to separate the room.
