  • Question
Why do people grief on Minecraft?
    Community Answer
Several reasons. First, in some gamemodes like factions or server types like anarchy, griefing is allowed and a common way to fight enemy factions/players. Often there are adequate protections against it, whether that be claiming plugins or hiding your base, but it is allowed if you manage. Second, sometimes people are jerks, and griefing is a popular form of revenge. Third, some people have YouTube channels and grief for attention, and even without a channel, they love attention, even if it's infamy and hatred. Fourth, people sometimes just get bored and decide griefing is a great way to liven things up.

    Community Answer
Generally developers don't make clients specifically for griefing. Fast place and auto clickers can help; so will speed hacks. Speed hacks are generally found in PvP hack clients. X-Ray is a mod on its own, but it is also in Wurst. It will help you obtain lava, water, or ores needed for griefing (redstone).

  • Question
What is the best griefing tip you have? (I need pay back my brother for a prank that blew up half my world!)
    Community Answer
Start by doing the same thing that he did to you. If that's not possible, or you want something else, you could rig his house with traps (preferably multiple. People do not usually expect to be pranked twice in a row on the same day by the same person). A good one would be to rig their door with the piston trap, which involves using pistons to open the floor on his door so he will fall somewhere, typically a pit of lava, an obsidian/bedrock room, or a cave full of mobs (preferably skeletons).
  • Question
How can I grief to help someone (e.g. someone who stole someone else' items)?
    Community Answer
There are multiple ways of helping. First, make sure they are OK with helping: You do not want to be viewed as meddling. You could get materials for the grief, locate the base and the best ways in, and you could also be on the guard in case someone comes.
