You can hang them either way. If you want to hang a large mirror horizontally, place it somewhere like a formal dining room to help the space feel bigger. Be sure to anchor it over a piece of furniture that's also long and wide, like a buffet table, so it feels cohesive in the space.
  • Question
How can I tell the difference between a light mirror and a heavy one?
    Community Answer
Try to pick it up. If it is light, you will know it.
  • Question
How can I hang a mirror in a corner?
    Community Answer
This would likely be very difficult. The best thing to do would be to have the mirror cut down the middle so you could apply one side to each corner of the wall. Otherwise you could try hanging the mirror from the ceiling in that corner.
  • Question
How far from the ceiling should I hang a mirror?
    Community Answer
Ceiling heights can vary, so you should focus on measuring up from the floor instead. In general, you should hang the mirror 5'6" to 6' from the floor. If it is a viewing mirror, hang it so that its center is at about eye level.
  • Question
Can I use double sided tape to hang a mirror?
    Community Answer
It depends on the size of the mirror; anything bigger than 30cm square won't work, as it will be too heavy. Also, be sure to use the foam/mounting doubled sided tape, and not the thin, clear kind.
  • Question

Typically you would hang it so that it is minimally 6 inches above the mirror.
  • Question
How do I hang a seven foot by three foot, 35 pound wood-framed mirror?
    Robert Weglewski
    Community Answer
You will need a wire kit to attach to the wood frame in back. Once this is attached to the mirror back, use two 50 pound anchors to insert to the wall for the wire to hang on. Measure the wire on the frame by pulling toward the top to figure where the anchors have to be placed on the wall where you are hanging it. Space the two anchors apart at least two feet.
