I have a raw edge tapestry with no rod pocket, approx 14" tall x 30" wide. I don't want to lose any of the design, or ruin the fabric by sewing it. Foam core? Double-stick tape? Rod?

Maybe a heavy (white) foam core or glue two foam cores together. Foam core would certainly lighten your piece for installation. Test and apply the tapestry to the core with some liquid starch, then smooth it flat with a craft brayer. Allow it to dry flat for 48 hours. It can be re-situated if you don't get it just right, it will hold in place and it can be removed later and be applied to a more solid piece later on if the foam core doesn't hold.
