QuestionWhy do people ruin their lives by quitting sports?Community AnswerPeople don't ruin their lives by quitting sports. It's not a life-changing thing for most people. Sports aren't for everyone, and people have lots of different interests. That is okay. There are ways of getting exercise, or any of the other benefits of sports, without playing sports. If you want to encourage others to play sports, tell them about how fun it is or about the other benefits. Or get them interested in a sport by watching games with them. But respect it if the person decides it's just not for them.

QuestionI really like basketball, but I don't want to join a team. I am afraid I won't understand the rules right and will mess up; laughing off your mistakes doesn't work when you don't follow the rules. What should I do?Community AnswerIt's OK; everybody is going to make mistakes, unintentionally disobey the rules, commit fouls, etc. That's what practice is for, and your coach will help you, especially if you explain your fears. Try joining a team and attending a few practices to give it a chance; if you find the pressure is too much, you can always leave the team. However, you'll probably find there are a lot of others on your team who share your concerns about misunderstanding the rules and making mistakes.
