  • Question
I want to have a coed party, but some of my friends are very conservative and won't be able to come. How can I include both boys and girls at the party, without conflicting with anyone's beliefs?
    Jonah Hamman
    Community Answer
Although there is always a chance that someone may disagree, you can reassure your friends of procedures you have taken to keep the party safe, appropriate, and enjoyable for everyone. However, do not lie; if you tell your friends there will be chaperones, make sure there are.
  • Question
How do I introduce my guests to each other the right way?
    Community Answer
Find something they have in common and use it in the introduction, eg: "Hey James, this is Jenny. She's a big fan of _ , too".
  • Question
    Can there be smoking?
    Jonah Hamman
    Community Answer
If the teens are under 18, it is illegal (in the US), so that would not be recommended. Also, if the party is indoors, the room may smell afterwards, and non-smoking guests may feel uncomfortable.
  • Question
What if there's a possibility someone might spike the drinks?
    Community Answer
Serve the drinks during the eating time rather than having them out in the open for anyone to mess with.
  • Question
How can I stop my mom from getting involved with my party?
    Community Answer
Ask your mom if she wouldn't mind stepping out for this party. She doesn't need to be there every second of your life, and if she trusts you, she will hopefully let you have fun without her being there.
  • Question
Is it okay to invite my ex if I miss him?
    Community Answer
if you're good friends again, probably. If you are just missing him and haven't been in touch, it may be awkward.
  • Question
Is it okay to invite only one girl to my birthday?
    Ruby

Sure. It's your party and who you invite should be your decision. You don't have to have a very big party if you don't want to.
  • Question
What is the best way to cope with uninvited guests?
    Community Answer
You should ask them to leave, and if they refuse, threaten to call the police. If they are friends of any of your friends, you could also just ask those friends to have the individuals leave the party.
  • Question
Is it OK for my girlfriend and I to find a quiet corner for a bit of petting if we are both 15?
    Community Answer
If you're both 15 and at a party, then you should be having fun with your friends! Save the petting for when you're in private. It can make other people uncomfortable for you to do that in front of them anyway.
  • Question
How many chaperones should you have at a 40 person party?
    Community Answer
You should have no less than four chaperones. If the party is for older teens (ages 16-19) you may need to have around 8 chaperones because they're likely to have licenses and access to drugs or alcohol.
  • Question
Should I have a quiet corner at my teen party?
    Community Answer
Yes, this would be a good idea, just in case anyone gets overwhelmed by the party or just wants a quiet space to have a conversation.
  • Question
How can I stop my 11 year old brother from getting involved in my party?
    Community Answer
Invite one or two of his friends, and have an area just for them so then he has no reason to get involved with what you're doing with your friends. Another option is for one of your parents to take him out for the duration of the party.
  • Question
What types of games are good for parties of teens?

  • Question
My mom wont let me have a party in our house; she says I have to do it in our back yard, which is very small. Do you have any suggestions?
    Community Answer
Invite fewer people, or if this is really not possible, put a theme with your party so that you don't need as much space. You may be able to compromise with your mum about which areas inside you would and wouldn't use, and promise that you'll clean up after (and keep this promise, or else you may lose privileges or trust, and you don't want that!). Another solution would be to host it a friend or relative's house/back yard, if they agree. If you have a larger budget, you may even be able to rent a hall.
  • Question
If my sister is having a party, is it good to be there with her friends?
    Tom De Backer
    Top Answerer
Sure, why not? You live in the same house, so you can be there. Just be nice, kind and friendly. And if it's not really your crowd, do something else by yourself.
  • Question
What do I do if people don't want to leave my teen party? How do I get rid of them without being rude or getting the police involved?
    Community Answer
This will most likely not happen. If this does happen, explain politely why they must leave, or call their parents in private. There is no reason for people to stay longer than socially acceptable. If it does escelate, call the police. Make sure the party attendees are not under the influence of drugs, or something that may cloud their judgment.
