    Expert Answer
Adults who participate in a “believer’s baptism” may decide to be baptized in water because they desire to identify with Jesus Christ in His death and resurrection. Baptism by immersion is a picture of being buried with Christ and rising to live a new life. Baptism tells everyone, “I no longer live to myself, I live a new life in Christ.” The Christian Scriptures exhort every follower of Jesus to “die” to selfish, sinful ways and to “live” in the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.

    Expert Answer
For me, it would mean to embody Jesus' teachings. To love your neighbor as yourself, to have compassion for all those around you, rather than judging or ridiculing them. Make sure to love everything that comes into your presence.
  • Question
I am discouraged by people who profess to be Christians who are really angry, nasty, gossipers. It upsets me that they will probably go to heaven. What can I do?
    Community Answer
It is not up to us to judge anyone or determine who is or is not going to heaven, that is up to God. Just focus on yourself and living up to the standards of your own faith. Avoid these people when possible, or calmly suggest to them that Jesus would not approve of their behavior.
  • Question
    How can I overcome Satan?
    Community Answer
You cannot overcome Satan by yourself, you must pray and ask God for help to overcome temptation.
  • Question
I keep trying to live right, doing what's right in my heart, helping whenever I can and want to. And yet, I still mess up. Does God still love me no matter how many times I make the same mistake?
    Community Answer
Yes! If you talk to Him, expressing your remorse for when you mess up, and ask for forgiveness, you are forgiven! Jesus' blood paid the price for our mess ups, once, for all.
  • Question
The Holy Spirit does not forgive you if you sin, but how can I know that I'm sinning?
    Community Answer
Any and every sin can be forgiven. That is God's grace. All that the Lord asks of us is to not deny Him. And if you are sinning "against" Him, you should know. Pray for guidance and to be forgiven for your sins, that is all you have to do.
  • Question
I've recently asked Jesus into my life, but it feels weird. I also have religious anxiety because I'm scared of going to hell. How can I overcome this?
    Community Answer
Don't be afraid. You won't go to hell, because Jesus will protect you. If you love and trust him, there is absolutely nothing to be afraid of. He loves you so much.
  • Question
    Can we overcome sin?
    Community Answer

  • Question
Must I confess to someone before my sins are forgiven?

  • Question
I am a goth. Is that unholy?
    Roscoe Bonsweenie
    Community Answer
The answer is too connected to how you define the terms, but more than likely, yes. "Goth" usually describes a style of rock music derived from punk, typically with apocalyptic or mystical lyrics. "Holy" is something dedicated or consecrated to God or a religious purpose. The answer to your question is based on what input you are receiving from being "goth."
  • Question
Is it possible to be saved even after the rapture?
    Community Answer
Yes. You can still be saved even after the rapture. The Bible claims that all of Israel shall be saved; Romans 11:26: "...and in this way, all Israel will be saved. As it is written: 'The deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob'."
  • Question
How do I receive the Holy Ghost?
    Community Answer
Catholics receive the Holy Ghost in a ceremony called confirmation. You must be a Catholic and study for about 11 years prior to being confirmed. According to the Bible, however, the Holy Ghost resides in you when you give your heart to Christ (accept Jesus as your Savior). A second filling of the Holy Spirit for empowerment in sharing the gospel and living for Jesus can also happen simply by asking God for it!
  • Question
How do I get in the book of life?
    Community Answer
By becoming a Christian. You can go to a Church, attend a service, and ask afterwards an elder or the pastor how to be a Christian.
  • Question
Every time I try to do the right thing, I have mean thoughts about others, and it makes me feel sinful. What do I do?
    Community Answer
There are those who speak and do bad things to people, and it hurts them and the other people. Thoughts come and go just like birds that sit on branches and make a nest. Don't entertain bad birds, and tell yourself that you won't let a bad thought make a home in your mind. Pray and ask for help fighting the temptation to be judgmental. You are a good human and you want to do good things. That's important.
  • Question
The other night I dreamed of something very bad and I don't know why? Can Jesus help me?
    Community Answer
It's commonplace to dream of bad things. Jesus can certainly help you pull through when you feel sad and worried. Pray to Jesus for guidance. Your dreams will improve.
  • Question
Is God angry with me when I dream I am burning in hell?
    Community Answer
It could be a warning from God of the upcoming judgment. I had a dream about it too. Be ready.
  • Question
Why is God not responding when I've been waiting for an answer to my question for over a year?
    Community Answer
God has the answers and gives as much as we need. If you've been waiting a year, perhaps He already answered but you didn't recognize it, or perhaps He wants you to wait longer. When we wait, He tells us other things that He wants us to know. Seek His present words and give Him time.
  • Question
How do you know when the Holy Spirit is with you?
    Breathe Johnson
    Community Answer
You just feel Him and you know He's with you. It's kind of like your instinct, in a way. You'll just feel it.
  • Question
Can a born again do a sin?
    Breathe Johnson
    Community Answer
Of course. Everyone (including Christians) sins. It's just human nature. The Bible even refers to it as the “flesh”. But the difference is that the Christians believe and acknowledge that they have been forgiven.
  • Question
What is the meaning of living for God?
    Community Answer
Living for God also means not living for yourself, fulfilling your needs and going after your own temptations. Jesus may ask you to give up what you have and live with very little. All these communications happen when your mind starts asking such questions like you did. It is up to you to decide if you want to live for Jesus. This journey is like living by following His commandments and His daily commands, seeking His will and being willing to give up what He asks you to. Spirituality is put to work while living for God.
  • Question
What is the difference between being filled with the Holy Spirit and dwelling of the Holy Spirit?
    Community Answer
They are the same. In both case, the Holy Spirit lives in you because you try to be spiritual with your best efforts. Cleanliness is next to godliness. A clean body and mind creates a happy home for the Holy Spirit in you. Otherwise, it feels chaotic.
  • Question
How does Christianity help people, in practise, bridge the gap that exists between it, as a religion, and the realities of everyone's, Christian or not, daily life?
    Community Answer
When people come to church with their problems, God sees them and blesses them, showing them a course of action in their thoughts. He does that without thinking about their religion or wealth. He helps all. Christian believers like Fathers, nuns, churches, church members also do many charitable works for poor children to be educated, widows to earn their livelihood, drunkards to be restored, etc. So, Christianity works in many ways in bridging the gap. Those who get help remember where it came from. So, we are the salt in the larger meal.
  • Question
Can I date as a Christian?
    Community Answer
Your reason for dating should be spiritual. If you do it because you love that person, then it is okay. God is love. If you intend to use that person and turn away from God, then it is sinful.
  • Question
I have accepted Christ for a while now, but I still feel this emptiness within me. I don't know how I should feel?
    Community Answer
Emptiness could be filled up with spiritual joy. Such joy comes by acting in faith and love. Why don't you talk to Jesus? Jesus is your guide. He tells you where to go and not to go. He leads you besides the still waters. Read The Lord is my Shepherd every day. Your soul wants to feed on something more now. So be spiritual. Make quiet time for Jesus in prayer and meditation.
  • Question
I am trying to live a good Christian life but I find it very hard to live happily with people. I want to improve. How can I be a great good child of God?
    Community Answer
Often spiritual people find it hard to live with others because they exude light and others treat them as different. That's why it is difficult to live happily and this also why Jesus said to love your neighbors and your enemies too. What you have to do is meditating or praying daily, waiting for His guidance, speaking to others lesser, avoid arguing with fools and laughing at them, being patient amidst troubling situations and praising Jesus for keeping you safe and happy. These are very good acts that will lead you towards being a great good child of God.
  • Question
Am I still a Christian if I want to avoid family members who have hurt me, I have forgiven them but I don’t want to ever be near them?
    Godssword Edet
    Community Answer
It's not a sin to disconnect from people who constantly hurt you and steal your peace (including certain family members). If being close to them will continue ruining you, then keep your distance. That doesn't in any way affect your salvation.
