If it's warmer water, then they may do so in the spring/summer.

It is not a good idea. Not only could your fish eat the soil, but it can make the water dirty, causing your fish to get sick or die.

You'll need a filter that is designed for twice the amount of water you have. For a pond this small, weekly 20% water changes are also necessary.

If I put 4 mollies then will they be fine in stagnant water? The pot is almost 1.3 ft wide and the depth is 20 cm.
    Emmylou Pruitt
    Community Answer
Mollies get four inches long and are messy. Do not place them in any pot that is not filtered. They need more between 20 gallons for four of them. Sailfin mollies are bigger and need more space than what I wrote for normal mollies.

It depends on the size of the pond. If your pond is about 50 inches you can keep about 2 channel catfish. As per as it is about 24 inches.

Just adding a few minnows will keep the frog population down as they will eat the frog eggs. Or, you could install an ornamental waterfall or running fountain in the pond. It disrupts the water, which creates an unpleasant place for frogs to lay their eggs.
  • Question
I want to set a pond but speedy wind takes away the duckweeds. What can I do?
    Tawnya Cyphers
    Community Answer
Set up a wind break. To do this you can use a variety of materials. However, I suggest you use bamboo. This is because you'll be right by water and bamboo needs a lot of water and it will also create a natural windbreak.
