    Expert Answer
When I moved to the US, the main things I looked at were visa requirements and the cost of living. I'd considered moving to the UK, but it was much more expensive to live there than it was in the US. I needed to understand what my financial burden would be. I also knew that I wanted to go to the best universities in the US, otherwise, there was no point in moving abroad, so I took out a student loan to help with the cost. I knew that even though it was more expensive, I'd have better opportunities coming out of school.
  • Question
There is so much to do. Where do I start?
    Community Answer
Start by getting a visa for the place. That will only be a temporary allowance to live in the country. However, if you go to a foreign country to study or work, you will have a student or working visa.
  • Question
My parents have decided to move to a foreign country and I am sad that I won't get to see my friends again. What should I do?
    Community Answer
First, you need to create ways to stay in touch. Some of these are programs on a computer or tablet, like Skype, or even iMessage. One drawback is that your pals will eventually move on, and there's not much you can do to stop it, but that doesn't mean you can't stay in touch. It's okay to be sad, but don't hang onto that for too long. Next, make some new friends. At your new school, try to find people you have something in common with. Joining a sports team or after school activity is a great way to meet new people.
  • Question
I'm thinking of moving from England to Ireland (as I hate it in England), but I understand that the people there don't like England much! Will the locals hate me for being British?

    Community Answer
If you are moving away from England because you hate it, then they should understand. As long as you don't display any kind of tactless disregard for the tension-filled history between England and Ireland (which is mainly England's fault), you should be good.

  • Question
What about my social security and P.E.R.S? That is all the money I have. Can I take it with me?
    Community Answer
If you're not in one of the 50 states and also outside of the U.S. territories, and inhabited commonwealths, you would still be entitled to Social Security benefits. Once a retiree has been outside the country for 30 days in a row, he or she is considered outside the United States and the rules for collecting benefits apply.
  • Question

  • Question
I am considering moving to the United Kingdom. What do I need to do to make that happen?
    Community Answer
This depends on the country you're moving from; consult with your local British embassy for details that apply to you. There is also a lot of uncertainty with Brexit happening soon. If you’re from a non-EU country, you will need a visa the same as before; those from EU countries will likely now (or soon) need to do the same.
  • Question
Which country is the best for someone from India to move to?
    Community Answer
Canada, New Zealand, Germany, Australia and Brazil are all good places and are very welcoming.
  • Question
How do I assimilate completely in the new country?
    Community Answer
Do a lot of research! Read books, watch videos and take notes. Find out what your new country values in their citizens, in their own lives and from visitors. It's also a good idea to find out about their habits, and how they work and play. Are they workaholics or do they value family time? Are they a country of football lovers, or is rugby more their thing? Are they a country that values quiet (introverted) or are they more extroverted? Are they religious, spiritual, non-sectarian or irreligious? Are they welcoming or clannish? People-watching also makes for great research material. Remember, it's not about completely changing yourself to fit in, but understanding where you do.
  • Question
I'm 16 years old and moving to South Korea on my own to be a K-pop trainee. I don't know much Korean, I only know the CEO, and have little money. What can I do?
    Community Answer
You know the CEO, so half the troubles are gone. Get signed by them and they will fund you, give accommodation and basically everything. Now to get signed, you have to learn Korean, meaning you have to learn to sing Korean. You need to know the basics in speaking and be fluent in singing Korean. They will spent more than 3 years training you, seeing if they can match you with any group. If you get signed by an entertainment group, you have to drop out of school. So to conclude, all you have to do is to get signed, and they will fund you and take care of everything.
