QuestionHow do I get a license from the government when preparing a workshop?Esther Seib ShelleyCommunity AnswerWhy do you feel you need a license? You don't need a license to run a workshop. If you want to train on something, all you need to do is demonstrate your authority (why they should listen to you). That could be your doctorate training, or your business history, or something like that.

QuestionHow do I get a license from the government when preparing a workshop?Esther Seib ShelleyCommunity AnswerYou don't need a license. You just need some credibility. If you run a workshop on hormone balancing, you'd better be able to demonstrate why someone should listen to you! Have you written a book? Are you a Naturopathic doctor? Are you a holistic nutritionist? Are you a regular person who found your own way to help that you want to share with others? Then explain that and tell your story. Those who have a similar issue may be interested enough to come hear you.

QuestionI often conduct artisinal baking workshops that are open to the public. In order to have the maximum number of participants, what is the suggested time (days? weeks?) for an advanced announcement?Mzm555Top AnswererIn most cases, the longer the better (provided you are certain you will be able to deliver the workshop on the date you have listed). You can also try playing around with announcement timelines to see how many bookings you get in what periods of time (e.g. 1 week, 1 month, etc) and decide on what your minimum participant numbers will be vs your maximum participant numbers. Also remember even if you have a big space, the participants will definitely appreciate smaller groups (under 10) as the trainer can engage everyone for one on one instruction and advice - satisfied participants leads to "word of mouth" referrals and recommendations for others to participate in your workshop!

QuestionHow do I make a dance workshop for ballet?Mzm555Top AnswererMake sure you have the suitable space to deliver the workshop - is it a dedicated building complete with the wall rail and mirrors? or just an empty hall? Will participants need to buy/hire out clothing, shoes and outfits or can you provide this? Will one instructor (yourself?) be enough? What experience/qualifications do you have in ballet? These are just a few things you must consider :)

QuestionHow is the cost for the workshop determined?Mzm555Top AnswererThis is up to you, but some factors to definitely look at will include: What equipment and materials will the participants need? (if any) - How much will these cost? Are they re-useable or do participants take them home? How many hours will the workshop run for? (your hourly wage) Is the space you are running it in owned or rented out? Are there any further fees/paperwork/licencing requirements you will need to fulfil for the participants afterwards?....These are just a few of the limitless factors you will need to consider if determining the cost of your workshop.
