  • Question
I recently took my cartilage piercing out, and it's infected. I have put antiseptic spray on it, but should I be turning it regularly so it doesn't get stuck? When I do this, it bleeds.

You should be using a piercing specific cleaner, and spinning the earrings does help. But before you touch your ears, you should always wash your hands.
  • Question
If my piercing bleeds when I take it out, should I just leave it in?
    Community Answer
This depends on if the piercing is a lobe piercing or a cartilage piercing. If it is a lobe piercing, then it is fairly regular. Unless your earring is bleeding profusely and/or trying to close up, then don't worry. If the bleeding is severe, I would recommend leaving the earring in for a week or two before removing it again.

    Community Answer
You should see your GP if you have discharge from your body piercing, as it may be infected. The discharge from an infected piercing may be thick, foul-smelling and yellow or green in color. This is normal and not usually a sign of infection. Any crust that forms can help protect against infection.

Then you most definitely have an infection. If the piercing doesn't move or starts swelling, consult a parent or a doctor. But for now, you should follow the steps above and if you don't have that, use the liquid your piercer gave you or use medical alcohol.

I stretch my ear from 4mm to 5mm 4 days ago and is swollen and red but no pain so I can’t put plug or tunnels in my ear and now is still red and swollen is it normal?

    Community Answer
Sometimes when you stretch a piercing the area will get red and swollen due to the force of the taper or whatever you're using to stretch the hole with. Try holding an ice pack on it for a bit to ease the swelling. However, if the swelling doesn't go down at all after about a week/week and a half, see a doctor.
  • Question

No. You should keep your earring in until the piercing has healed, which can take a couple of weeks. If you remove your earrings before that, the hole will close up quickly. You can clean the piercing with the earrings still in.
