  3. Cut out another matching piece of material that is similar in length to your shirt, and a few inches wide, depending on how much wider you want your revamped shirt to turn out. Cut this piece of fabric in half.
  4. Place the additional piece of material on top, face down. Align these edges, and sew the open edge together. Repeat this with the second side of the shirt.
  5. Make sure to face the front sides inwards. Repeat this for the last side.
  6. Leave your new shirt plain, or if you like, sew on a little bow to accent.

    How to widen pants legs?
    Community Answer
You can sew a long strip on the sides. You will have to open the side stitch of the legs with a seam ripper. Decide on the side patch fabric. It could just be a long strip cut from a denim pant, old trouser, or with both a long strip with a zipper along the length. Sew the strip in place. Each leg will require two stitches for both the sides of a strip. Measure the strip in advance and leave enough to roll and sew to prevent fraying of open ends. You can sew the patch in the front too if you like. You'll have to cut the legs accordingly. Lastly, seal the inner side of the stitched strip by either overlocking, rolling the inside to sew or and sewing the ends rolled inside ribbons.

      • When deciding what to make from tight clothes, use the amount of fabric available in the tight clothing to help guide your choice. Many items can be revamped into something else provided there is sufficient fabric available.
