Southern SoapWorks was founded in 1999 by Bill and Susan Goodwin. When the couple first moved to Alabama in the early 1990s to follow Bill’s job, Susan found herself looking for employment herself. Given the opportunity to make a fresh start and do something creative, Susan decided to make a career out of something that had been a hobby of hers for years: soap making.
She began by making a few bars to give to neighbors and the new friends they were meeting, but the demand quickly grew as her friends came back asking for more. She began making soap on a larger scale and selling it in local boutiques and gift shops, and now Southern SoapWorks products are available online for shipping anywhere in the continental United States.
Even with its tremendous success, Southern SoapWorks remains a small family-owned and -operated business. Because the Goodwin family also believes in giving back to their community, for every ten bars of soap purchased, they donate a bar to a local women’s shelter.
Southern SoapWorks products are made of only the freshest all-natural ingredients. They are hypoallergenic, noncomedogenic, and safe for sensitive skin. They also make excellent gifts for those hard-to-buy-for people on your list.
