[1] You cannot search comments your friends have left in groups you don’t belong to or comments they left on other people’s posts, either using Facebook’s search tools or a third-party search tool. However, you can still find other people’s comments on your profile, their profile, a mutual friend’s profile, or a public page or group you both belong to.     Open Facebook. You can either open the Facebook app on your mobile device or sign in to www.facebook.com on a desktop computer.

    Go to your profile page. To do so on mobile, tap the menu icon which resembles your profile picture in the top right corner (Android), or the icon with three lines in the bottom-right corner (iPhone). Then tap your name at the top of the menu. On a desktop computer, click your name at the top of the menu panel to the left.

    Click or tap the icon with three dots ••• . It’s to the right of the menu bar at the top of your profile page. This displays a drop-down menu.

    Enter your friend’s name in the search bar. Be sure to enter their first and last name. This will display posts your friend has commented on, as well as posts your friend has left on your wall.

    • Posts you’ve seen : Click this option to limit your search to posts you’ve already seen.

    • Tagged location: This allows you to search by a location if your friend tagged you at a specific location.

  1. Sign in to www.facebook.com in a web browser. If you're looking for a certain friend's comment on a specific photo or post, start by logging in to your Facebook account.
    • This method won't work in the Facebook mobile app, but you can log in to Facebook using your phone or tablet's web browser.

    Locate the post with the comment you want to find. It may be on your profile or theirs or a different page entirely.

    View all comments on the post. Click Comments below the post. If you see "Most Relevant" above the comment list, click it and select All Comments instead.
    • If you still see a View previous comments link above the top post, it means you'll need to click it again to reveal more comments. You may have to click this button over and over again until all comments are displayed.

    Expand all replies. To expand all replies under a comment, click View all # replies below the comment.Then click View all # replies below any of the expanded replies. “#” is the number of replies to a thread. You’ll need to expand all replies to the thread.

    • If you're using a phone or tablet, you'll have to open your browser's Find feature:
      • Safari : Swipe down slightly to show the option bar at the bottom, and then tap the Share icon (a square with an up-pointing arrow). Swipe left across the bottom row of icons and tap Find on Page .
      • Chrome : Tap the three-dot menu and select Find in Page…
  6. This type of search will only show you exact matches, so be sure to type several consecutive letters. You’ll need to use their first and last name. Alternatively, you can use words or phrases within the comment..
  7. Clicking the down-arrow on the Find window brings you to the first instance of your friend's name on the page. Clicking the down-arrow again will bring you to another instance of that name. Continue until you find the comment you are searching for.
