  • Question
How can I clean really bad stains from a cloth sofa?
    Community Answer
Depending on the stain I've used Shout Laundry Stain remover. In theory if it gets stains out of clothing it should do the same for cloth couches. The spray has enzymes in it that break down certain stains. Spray the area and let it sit for a while. I usually follow the instructions on the bottle. Then with a damp sponge or cloth, start washing the stain away. Keep a bucket of water next to you, using the temperature it states on the bottle for the temperature of the water. Once it's removed you can air dry, blow dry it on a cool setting, or spot dry with a towel.
  • Question
Can I clean a sofa with Windex?
    Community Answer
It depends on the type of material. If it's leather, go for it. If it's fabric, you probably shouldn't. Use some dish soap and water to remove stains and a vacuum to remove the crumbs.

Sprinkle baking soda directly on the stain and let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes to absorb the grease. Gently brush off the powder, then mix baking soda with water. Dampen a cloth with this mixture and carefully rub the stain. Once it's clean, apply a leather conditioner to restore the couch’s shine and protect it from further damage.

Start by vacuuming the sofa with a brush attachment to remove dust and crumbs. Sprinkle baking soda over the sofa to eliminate odors and light stains, let it sit for 20 minutes, then vacuum it up. For stains, mix equal parts water and white vinegar with a few drops of natural dish soap, and dab the mixture on stains with a cloth. Finally, wipe the sofa with a damp cloth to remove soap residue.
  • Question
Can I use apple cider vinegar instead of white vinegar for cleaning my sofa?
    Lina DaSilva
    Top Answerer
Yes, you can use apple cider vinegar as a substitute for white vinegar to clean your sofa. Mix it with water in equal parts and test on a small, hidden area first to ensure it doesn't affect the fabric. If safe, dab the solution onto stains with a soft cloth, wipe with a damp cloth, and let it air dry.

How can I clean a couch to remove the scent after a child has an accident on it?
    Lina DaSilva
    Top Answerer
To tackle the odor after cleaning up from your couch, first carefully remove any solids with gloves and paper towels. Mix 2 cups of warm water with 1 tablespoon of dishwashing liquid and 1 tablespoon of white vinegar to create a cleaning solution. Dampen a cloth with the solution and gently blot the area, avoiding scrubbing. Rinse with a clean, damp cloth to remove soap residue, and once mostly dry, sprinkle baking soda over the area.
