Pentecostalism is a form of evangelical Christianity that believes in the Bible as inspired by God. The main objective of a Pentecostal Christian is to trust Jesus Christ as the only Savior and way to heaven, thus be "born again", seek baptism of the Holy Spirit and follow God.

Steps

  1. Read the Bible and pray asking God to guide you in by the Bible. [1] Although it's not compulsory it might be a good idea to pray with a Pentecostal as they would hopefully be able to help. Ask God for forgiveness for all of your sins, and study His word (possibly, keep a journal/notebook of your studies). Pentecostals believe that prayer is a person's way to talk to God, and that "rightly dividing" the Word of Truth (The Bible) -- and so, measuring out its meanings correctly, is your final authority for answering all doctrinal questions. Intuition, leadings, callings must align with the scriptures of the Bible.
  2. Learn about Christianity , particularly the beliefs of the Pentecostal church, which actually has countless different groups worldwide.

  3. Pentecostals take a great deal of their core beliefs from the book of Acts which depicts the early church as it began from scratch a Jerusalem. The first two chapters of Acts are especially pertinent as that tells of the establishment of the Church upon the day of Pentecost. [2]
  4. ) by looking in your phone book. Call the church for service times.
  5. [3] Pentecostal services are participatory occasions.
  6. The Holy Spirit was promised by Jesus: He said, "I must go away. If I do not go away the Holy Spirit will not come." He said, "I will send the Holy Spirit that He may comfort and guide you, and He shall be with you forever."

True Christian doctrine!

  1. "Be filled with the Spirit"(Ephesians 5:18)
    • And the early Church prayed for others to receive the Holy Spirit in Acts 8:15.
  2. See what Jesus taught, "You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth" (Acts 1:8)

  • Question
What can cause people to join them?
    Community Answer
A central theme within Pentecostal denominations is direct communication between God and the believer. Because of this, people who become Pentecostal often do so because they believe they have had a direct experience of God.
  • Question
Is it a sin if I am Orthodox and I go to a Pentecostal Church?
    Community Answer
No, it's not a sin to attend a Pentecostal church even if you don't identify as a Pentecostal Christian.
  • Question
What if I want to be Pentecostal but go to a Christian church?
    Community Answer
Changing churches should be fairly simple. Pentecostals are still Christians, so you are still going to a house of worship for the same God. It's also okay to worship Him in your own way, in your heart.

      Warnings

      • Pentecostals believe that there is an evil side to the world (ex. hell, devil) .
      • Occasionally Pentecostals, like others, can be judgmental toward others, but don't let that get to you. Be forgiving, have mercy, and express love towards them. No one is perfect. At the same time don't be afraid to give your point of view. In the first couple of chapters in the book of James it says that a church should show no partiality based upon outward appearance. The Bible also teaches that all have sinned and all have fallen short of the Glory of God and that nobody is better than you. If you're in a church which places some people in higher value than others then that is wrong.
      • Pentecostals are strong in the infilling of the Holy Spirit, physical healing, revelations and vocal gifts.
      • In some churches it is expected that women should be modest, in accordance with the Word of the Lord (Bible) and wear skirts or dresses, no jewelry (no outward adornment), no makeup (natural beauty from God), and the women aren't to cut their hair (see I Corinthians 11:1-15) and men should wear clean cut haircuts and nicely fitted clothes. Basically very conservative. Not all Pentecostal churches follow these guide lines.
      • Several (not all) Pentecostal churches are serious about finding new converts, even within Christianity, and leading them "into receiving the Holy Spirit." These churches believe that the outward sign of rebirth and salvation for every believer is speaking in tongues, otherwise known as the Holy Ghost.
      • On the day of Pentecost the Baptism of the Holy Spirit was also referred to as being filled (Acts 2:3) Spirit poured out (Acts 2:17) and receiving the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:33).
