Minecraft is about a game about building, crafting and surviving in a randomly generated world. Sometimes, you may build a house or base that doesn't have a water supply nearby. Luckily, you can use a bucket to create your own water supply. This wikiHow teaches you how to create your own infinite water supply in Minecraft.

  1. Click or use the left trigger button on the trigger button to mine dirt/grass blocks in the ground to dig a hole. You don't need any tools to mine dirt/grass, but it is quicker if you use a shovel . The hole should be at least 2x2 cubes wide and one cube deep. You can make it bigger if you wish, but bigger holes will take more water to fill. Once the hole is filled with water, the water you take from it will always be replenished.
  2. Iron bars are needed to craft buckets. To get iron, you must first mine iron ore from deep within a cave. You then need to locate or craft a furnace and use the furnace to smelt iron ore into iron bars.

  3. To craft an iron bucket, have at least three iron bars in your inventory. Open a crafting table by right-clicking on it or pressing the left trigger button. Select the bucket from the tab with the bucket and apple icon (Java Edition), or the tab with the bed and bucket icon (Bedrock Edition), or the Weapons and Tools tab (Playstation Edition). Drag the bucket into your inventory.
    • If you have enough iron bars, you can craft multiple buckets to save yourself trips to the water source.
  4. It can be any river, lake, or ocean. Minecraft worlds are generated randomly. You'll need to search the world to find a water source. Water is pretty common in Minecraft, and you shouldn't have to travel too far.
    • You may want to consider crafting a map before you go exploring. Unfortunately, maps are no longer available at the start of the game.
  5. Once you find a source of water, place the bucket in your toolbar and select it. Then stand next to a water source and right-click or press the left trigger on a block of water. The image of the bucket in your inventory will be filled with water.
  6. Return your water source and refill the bucket as needed. Then return to the hole and fill each additional space. When the water is level with no visible flow in any direction, your infinite water source is complete.
  7. You may need to return to the water source and refill the buckets a few times Use the bucket to fill any additional spaces in the hole that you dug. Look for blocks where the water either isn't level or appears to be flowing in one direction. Fill those spaces with water. When you are finished, the water should be level with no visible flow in any direction. When the hole is completely filled, you can get water from it anytime using a bucket. The water will automatically replenish itself when you get water from the source you crafted.
    • To remove a water supply, simply place a block
