People and friends can be found on Skype by searching for their email addresses, usernames, full names, and any other information those users have entered into their Skype profiles. While Microsoft plans to discontinue Skype in May 2025, for now, you can still find people on Skype using either the Contacts menu or the search box. Searching for Someone in Skype
To find other people on Skype, tap the search bar at the top of the screen. Enter the person's full name, email address, or Skype username. Select a user in the results to view the profile. Tap Add contact to send a friend request.

Tap Contacts . This is the tab at the bottom-right corner.
- If you aren't already logged into your Skype account , do so now.

Type the full name, Skype username, or email address into the field. A list of users that match your search criteria will automatically populate in the section below the search field.

Tap the person you want to add. This will open their profile in full. Depending on their privacy settings, you may see additional details such as profile photo, location, online status , and more.

Tap Add contact . This is below their profile picture.
- The request will be sent to the user. Depending on their privacy settings, you may be able to send a message before they approve. Navigate to their profile and click Send message .

Tap the search field. This is at the top of the page, underneath your Skype name.

Type the full name, Skype username, or email address into the field. A list of users that match your search criteria will automatically populate in the section below the search field.

Tap More underneath "Skype directory". This will load all profiles that match your search.

Tap the person you want to add. This will open their profile in full. Depending on their privacy settings, you may see additional details such as profile photo, location, and more.

Tap Add contact . This is below their profile picture.
