  • Question
How do I deal with an arrogant person who has a group of people supporting him that aren't arrogant?
    Community Answer
Ignore that arrogant person and the group. If that group decides to follow that arrogant person, then their common sense is obviously not kicking in yet or at all.
  • Question
What can I do if I think I might be arrogant?
    Community Answer
Thinking you might be arrogant is a good first step. Stop talking about yourself and assuming you are always right. Maybe other people are right too/instead of you. Let other people talk and voice their own opinion. Don't make fun of people. Let the conversation flow successfully.
  • Question

  • Question

    Community Answer
If somebody is making you feel bad then tell someone else that you trust about it. If you really don't want to do this, then try comebacks that aren't rude. Show this person that you don't care, even if you do.
  • Question
How do I deal with an arrogant friend who likes to insult me and tell me she thinks she is more intelligent?

A good friend would not treat you that way. Tell her that these comments are really hurting your feelings, and if she doesn't stop, tell her that you don't want to be her friend anymore.

  • Question
How do I deal with an arrogant friend that I am temporarily staying with?
    Community Answer
Unfortunately the rule is, if you're staying with them, they're in charge. Arrogance can be hard to deal with but you'll have to decide if it's worth putting up with in order to have a place to stay. Try to remind yourself that it's just temporary and you only have to put it up with it for a short while.

  • Question
How do I deal with arrogance in the office?
    Community Answer
Give the arrogant person/s a factual example of when they behaved arrogantly and how it affected other people in the office environment. In fact, tell them several, and tell them how they could improve their skills. However, be careful -- some workplaces are geared toward creating an air of arrogance because the company thinks it's the bees knees and it behooves everyone to act as if they're the best of all.
  • Question
How do I deal with an arrogant coworker?
    Community Answer
Compliment them and leave with a positive attitude. Don't make any attempts to hang around for a conversation. Insecure people love to be pumped. Don't give them anything to indulge their insecurities. It's like when you feed the cat, it will come back for some more.
  • Question
How do I get a family member to stop being bossy and disrespectful?
    Community Answer
You should try to be direct with them about how their behavior bothers you. Give them your honest opinion of their words and tell them how bossy and disrespectful you think they're being. Try to stay calm though; if you get upset, they might not take your points as seriously.
  • Question
How do I deal with an arrogant, snobby, stuck up, bossy and annoying 14-year-old girl who undermines others and behaves as though she is in charge when she is not?
    Tom De Backer
    Top Answerer
You deal with it by realizing that she is not an adult yet; she is a child, an adolescent. They go through raging hormones, screaming desires and tormenting feelings, kicking at everything they can so they can find their place in this world. Sure, they should behave, but it's not entirely their fault. So be the better person, show some patience, and think, "You have your opinion, I have mine." However, don't hesitate to put her in her place if needed; be kind, calm and firm. Whatever is going on, she still has to behave like a normal person.
  • Question

  • Question
How do I deal with an arrogant coworker that fakes being my friend because I am higher than her in the hierarchy?
    Community Answer
Just be civil, polite but not overly-friendly. If other people are coming to you with complaints about this person, take them to HR.
  • Question
How do I express my feelings to an arrogant person?
    Community Answer
This can be difficult as an arrogant person rarely sees beyond than their own arrogance. Try to be firm when expressing your feelings. Whether they accept your feelings or not, the fact that you expressed yourself is what matters.
  • Question
What should I do if someone arrogant is making me question my math skills?
    Community Answer
Be honest. If he/she makes fun of you for not being better than them, then tell them honestly that you were honest in what you are capable of doing, and stop hurting you emotionally by making fun of you. If he/she constantly bothers you by making fun of you, then that is considered bullying, which you can talk to a trusted adult or someone who can help you with the situation.
  • Question
How do I handle a bunch of arrogant friends at school?
    Community Answer
If you have been friends for several years, it is probably okay to drop some hints that they are being arrogant. If you don't know them quite as well, try keeping your distance when you need to keep your cool, making fun of their arrogance, or just politely disagreeing.
  • Question
How do I handle with arrogant person who is disrespectful to his parents?
    Community Answer
Arrogant people can often think they're better than other people and in this case perhaps they think they know more than their parents. If this is a friend of yours, point out how disrespectfully you think they're behaving toward their parents. You might be the first person who has ever said something and if they respect your opinion, it might make a difference. However, don't be surprised if they keep up the behavior toward their parents; it's the parents who need to set boundaries here, not you.
  • Question
What should I do if a group of arrogant friends won't let me alone despite that I am trying to create distance between us?
    Community Answer
Continue to give short, distant answers whenever they try to talk with you. Don't hang out with them, don't talk to them more than you have to, and don't give in. They eventually will give up.
  • Question
What is the difference between an egotistical and arrogant person? It seems to me they are similar, but egotistical is not as bad/offensive as arrogant.
    Tom De Backer
    Top Answerer
They are rather different. A selfish person can still be quite polite, without even a whisper of arrogance in his bones. Arrogant people can still be very altruistic. A person who comes up to you, interrupts your conversation and whatever you're doing to claim your attention for sick children in Africa is not selfish, but very arrogant. And a person who politely engages you in conversation but doesn't hear a word you say and only talks about themselves is not arrogant, but very egotistical.
  • Question
How do I deal with an arrogant roommate?
    Community Answer
Honestly, I would probably just ignore them. Some people are just like that. You don't have to be best friends with someone just because you're living with them. If they do something to offend you or they're disrespectful of your space, speak up for yourself, but otherwise, just don't pay any attention to them when they're being arrogant.
  • Question
How should I handle a classmate who is an angry and arrogant person and who influences my classmates to think badly of me? My classmates laugh at me and see me as an enemy because I disagree with this person.
    Community Answer
Be bold enough to disagree with them whenever they go astray in an argument. Just be yourself and aim at proving them wrong.
  • Question
How do I deal with an arrogant person who says things I don't know or understand?
    Community Answer
Either you too need to set boundaries or this person isn't worth your time. Also please consider "I'll think about it" or "maybe" when they say things that don't make sense to you, or there is always the standard: "What do you mean by that?" to force them to explain themselves or drop the point altogether.
  • Question
How can I tell someone they're cocky?
    Community Answer
If they start talking about themselves, say something like, "It's nice to know that you're doing so well, but hearing this non-stop makes me a little uncomfortable." Be specific. Tell them about one specific thing they brag about and explain why it bothers you. Try to help them reflect on themselves by introducing them to someone who is really good at what they do. They might realize how many people in the world are better than them. If they keep going, it might be because they purposely want to irritate you or put you down. In this case, telling them that they are cocky won't really help and it's just best to make an excuse to leave.
