Unfortunately, thermal styling tools like a flat iron just aren't going to able to defy the humidity. Chemically straightening your hair would be more effective.

Use heavy styling products. They'll weigh down your hair and add an extra layer of protection from the humidity.
  • Question
Can I use rubber bands while I sleep to reduce frizzy hair?
    Community Answer
Putting your hair into a bun or braids is a good idea, but plain old rubber bands are very damaging to hair, especially curly hair. Consider using hair ties (the fabric covered kind) instead. Also, try getting a satin pillow case, or a cotton pillow case with a very high thread count. The smoother the fabric is, the less it will snag on your hair and cause frizz.
  • Question
My hair starts curling out at the end. How do I make the ends straight?
    Community Answer
I have the same problem, I put my hair in a ponytail to get it out of the way, or I'll use a straightener on my ends with a good heat protectant.
  • Question
How do I stop freshly cut bangs from curling upwards?
    TRINITY STOTRIDGE
    Community Answer
Use a hair straightener to curl your bangs in the opposite direction from which they tend to curl.
  • Question
What can I do to keep my hair from getting puffy and frizzy when the weather is humid, and I have to wear it down?
    Community Answer
Don't wash it right before you are going out in the humidity. If you flat iron, go out in the humidity long enough for it to get frizzy, then flat iron again. Repeat a couple of times if possible. This will help some. And skip conditioner on really humid days. Just use a premium moisturizing shampoo.
  • Question
How can I stop my bangs from curling?
    Community Answer
To stop your bangs from curling, have them cut thicker with upward cuts at the ends so they will stay flat. Also it's helpful to spray them with hair spray that is either water resistant or has keratin.
  • Question
How can I get my straight hair back if it has turned curly?
    Community Answer
You'd probably have to straighten it again. If you still can't get your hair to stay straight, just put it up in a bun, braid, or ponytail.
  • Question
Will completely covering my hair with a hat prevent my hair from curling up in humidity?
    Community Answer
If you're going to be outside for most of the day, no. If you're just outside for a few minutes, then likely yes.
  • Question
What is the best way to keep frizzy hair from curling up in hot weather?
    Community Answer
Try wetting it down or putting it in a tight plait, which will keep it together.
  • Question
How can I avoid my hair curling again after straightening it?
    Community Answer
Apply some shea butter. It will moisturize your hair, make it shiny, and prevent it from curling.
  • Question
How do I stop getting frizzy hair when I'm sweaty in a gym?
    Community Answer
If you have already tried pulling it up in a bun, maybe try putting it in a braid. That way no little hairs can pull out and become frizzy.
