    It depends on the intersection and where you live. There will be signage in some cases if it seems like you could make a left turn somewhere and you aren't allowed to. If there's a dedicated turning lane though, it's going to be legal so long as the path is clear and the light is green (if there is one).

    Make sure that you check the crosswalk before turning, and keep an eye out for cars in the other lane. Another thing you want to keep an eye out for is bicycles. Those are pretty common in a lot of cities, and they can sneak up on you if you aren't paying attention.
