  • Question
To use in a "prepping" situation, can jerky be frozen until needed, then kept for some time?
    Karl Cuff
    Community Answer
Any type of food for "prepping" should be used within the suggested time frame (so one year for jerky would be stretching it, and any frozen jerky would need to be consumed quickly after dethawing due to increased moisture from freezing). That being said, in an actual survival scenerio, you would eat anything you could for caloric intake, even if the taste, texture, and safety of consumption were decreased.
  • Question
What is the best way to mail jerky?
    Community Answer
Use vac-sealing bags, then ship in a box.
  • Question
My jerky was delivered when I wasn't home, and it was in the mailbox for 2 days in 100 degree heat. Is it still safe to eat?
    Community Answer
Absolutely not. You should return it.
  • Question
I put my jerky in the refrigerator but about a week later it changed to a whitish color? Is that normal and can I eat it?
    Community Answer
If food changes color like that it is generally not a good idea to eat it. It may have not been fully cooked or may have been exposed to too much air in the process.
  • Question
Will jerky keep longer sealed in an airtight vacuum sealed bag?
    Community Answer
It will keep for 1-2 months stored in this manner. But not if the storage area is hot, keep it cool.
