  • Question
When is the best time to draw?
    Community Answer
This will vary from person to person. Some people find that they get the most ideas in the morning, while others find that they get more ideas in the evening. You should draw whenever feels most comfortable for you. If you don't know what time feels comfortable for you, try drawing just after watching a movie, listening to a song, or reading a book.
  • Question
Do things have to be the coulor they usually are?
    Community Answer
Not at all! You could be creative and add some colors of your own. It may look strange, but it would give you a chance to try out some cool colors.
  • Question
I draw fast and it makes my pictures look bad. Any way I could stop?
    Community Answer
Patience is key. Try taking your time and focusing on how you want to draw it. Stop every minute or two to look over your drawing and see if there is anything you need to fix. Set an alarm to do so if necessary. Your drawings will always look better if you take your time.
  • Question
What are some simple things to draw?
    Community Answer
Think about places or pieces of art you have seen, a pet, animal, person, or just something meaningful to you, like a flower vase passed down from your grandmother.
  • Question
How can I make drawing easier?
    Community Answer
Look at other people's drawings to make copying their work easier. Look up on Google, "Things to draw" and you will get lots of interesting ideas. Look around you for inspiration -- your room, your family, your pets, the world outside.
  • Question
Is it easy to draw from the heart? For example, if you have experienced heartbreak, how do I put it in a drawing on paper?

Draw it in a way that expresses something sad. For example, draw an anatomical heart, but fragmented for heartbreak.
  • Question
I can never get my drawings how I picture them, how can I be better?

  • Question
How do you draw dark characters well?
    Community Answer
The same way as any other characters, just use darker colors to color the picture, or if you want, shade them in if it's just a pencil drawing.

    Nine Tailed Kyuubi chan
    Community Answer
Your imagination is your answer. Think of something in nature that you especially like: an animal, a bird, a flower, a tree, a sunset. Focus on that one thing, just from your memory, and start drawing it.
  • Question
I still have no idea what to draw. How can I get ideas while sitting at my desk?
    Community Answer
Look around you. It doesn't have to be a deep expression from your heart to be worth drawing, and something like your desk lamp could always be just the warm-up you need.
  • Question
How do I express my feelings in drawing? I feel that I want to draw something about confusion. How can I draw that?
    Community Answer
It depends on whether you want it to be a realistic or an abstract piece. If you want it to be realistic, think of the most confusing time of your life and draw it from maybe a first person or third person view. If you want it to be more abstract, try using hazier or blurred colors that form random shapes and patterns. Muted and neutral colors would work well. You could also try a combination, like a blurry scene that looks a little realistic, but also a little off. Remember that art is understood differently by different people, so what may look exactly like confusion to you may look like something completely different to someone else (and that's okay!).
  • Question
Do drawing skills automatically get better when you grow up? Or it just depend on how much do you draw?
    Community Answer
Both can play an important part, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't practice and then decide to draw a picture when you're 30. You do have to practice to get better at drawing.
  • Question
What do I do if I feel I have an idea but when I put it on paper it comes out bad?
    Community Answer
Try again. Drawings often don't come out looking exactly like you want them to on the first try. Keep practicing and your drawing will improve.
  • Question
Do you have any ideas on what I should draw for my friend?

  • Question
If I am in the car and I see something I want to draw, should I take a picture of it to copy?
    Community Answer
I'd say either just take a picture and if the car is moving too fast to get a good picture then try to find a similar picture online. You could try to draw it from memory but sometimes that doesn't work out too well, especially if you have a bit of a bad memory like me.
  • Question
I am good at picture shading and drawing, but bad at coloring. How can I get better?
    Community Answer
Draw the outline lightly in pencil, then outline it boldly in pen/marker/colored pencil. Color the basic colors (lightly) and use darker colors for the shadows (e.g. tan and brown). For highlights, either use white or color lightly.
