Do I need to reference definitions?

You shouldn't steal a definition from a collection of definitions. Review a couple of definitions and put a definition of a word into your own words. For example, if defining the word idiosyncrasy, one definition example says "a mode of behavior or way of thought peculiar to an individual". I would say "a way somebody acts that is seen as odd to someone or some people."

How to I add the pronunciation of a word?

Look on online dictionaries. Most of them will include the pronunciation like this: Parachute (Para-sh-oo-t). Basically, in parentheses, write the word as it sounds. For words where the vowel sounds like its name, write it as: Late (l-A-t).

To memorize a word and its definition, write the word and its definition on paper 5 times, then say it out loud 10 times. Repeat these 2 things at least 5 times a day for 1-4 weeks. Tip: Try using the word in sentences when talking to people to get it fixed in your brain.
