  • Question
Why would people rather not disclose whether they are Republican or Democrat? I am proud of the political views I have.
    Community Answer
Many people feel that the topics of sex, politics and religion are conversational taboos due to their personal nature, and as such, are not open for general discussion. Those who don't wish to disclose their political affiliation are probably just as proud of their views, but don't want to discuss politics with you. It's best to respect this boundary and find other things to talk about.

    Community Answer
If someone is talking about politics, such as when they are voting for a government official in the U.S., the person may want to know if the person is a Democrat or Republican to see which person they are going to vote for. They might ask about their political stance, and avoid sensitive topics that have anything to do with the opposing party.
  • Question

    Community Answer
It depends on who you ask.
