You can easily save the file to your computer using WhatsApp on the web or by sending it to your email via the mobile app. This wikiHow teaches you how to save a previously recorded voice message from WhatsApp to your desktop computer, laptop, iPhone, or Android.

Downloading WhatsApp Voice Messages

Open WhatsApp on your computer and select your conversation. Hover your mouse over the audio message and click the downward-facing arrow. Then, click Copy and paste the file onto your desktop. Open the file with a browser to view it.

    Open a conversation in WhatsApp on your computer. If you don't have the desktop version of WhatsApp yet, download and install it first, and be sure to log in to your account .
    • Since the WhatsApp desktop app synchronizes with your phone's WhatsApp app, all of your conversations will appear here. [1]

    • If you don't see this arrow, right-click (or control-click) the message.

    Click Select . This is in the drop-down menu. This will add a green check mark on the left of the message. Be sure to select any other voice messages you want to save.

    Click the "copy" button at the top. This is the overlapping rectangles icon. The audio messages will be saved to your clipboard.

    Navigate to an empty folder or area on your desktop. This is where you'll be pasting the file.

    Paste the file. Right-click (or control-click) an empty area, and then select Paste . The file will be pasted as a WAPTT file, which can be opened using an internet browser.

    Open a conversation in WhatsApp. This should be the conversation with the voice message.
    • If this is your first time opening WhatsApp on your phone, you'll need to first set up WhatsApp. You can find the Chats tab at the bottom of the screen.
    • If WhatsApp opens to a conversation, just tap the back button in the top left corner of the screen.
