Stay focused Ask her out early in the text conversation. A little smalltalk beforehand is okay but avoid letting the conversation get stale or boring. Examples: “Hey, how was your day?” followed by “Would you like to see the new Marvel movie with me?” “Since you’re into comics and superheroes, want to go see the new Marvel movie this weekend?” Preface it with a compliment Keep it short and simple, you don’t need to send her several texts about all the things you like about her. Being straightforward will come off as more confident. Examples: “You have a great sense of humor. Would you like to go see a funny movie with me sometime?” “I think you’re really cool. Some friends and I are going to see the new Marvel movie on Saturday. Want to be my date?” Be patient Don’t freak out if you don’t get an immediate reply—she might be busy or thinking about what to say back. Avoid sending follow-up texts; however, if she doesn’t reply after a few days then feel free to send one that is both respectful and friendly. ✗ “Helloooo? Is that a yes/no?” ✓ “Hey, so I haven’t heard back from you so I’m assuming that’s a no for the movie. No worries, maybe some other time!” Wrap up the conversation When she does reply (and says yes) end the conversation with a friendly greeting and any necessary details. If she says no, be gracious and show respect. “Awesome! We’re going to the 7:45 showing at Whole Pictures Theater. See you then!” “No problem, maybe another time then. Have a great night!”
