To sort the entire sheet, tap on a column you want to sort by and tap it again to open a contextual menu, then tap the three-dot menu icon. Select "A-Z" or "Z-A" to sort your data. If you want to sort a range, select it and tap the three-dot menu icon, then tap Create a filter and apply a sorting option.

Open the Google Sheets app on your Android. The Sheets app looks like a white spreadsheet table on a green document icon. You can find it on your apps drawer by sliding up from the bottom of your screen or find the app icon on your home screen.

Tap the file you want to edit. Find the spreadsheet you want to sort on your saved files list, and open it.Advertisement

Tap the header letter at the top of a column. Every column has a capitalized letter header at the top of your spreadsheet. Tapping it will select and highlight the entire column.

4Tap the header again to get a pop-up menu. The context menu will open so you can apply formatting and more.

5Tap the ⋮ icon. This three-dot menu icon stands for "More" and will show you more options.

6Tap Sort A-Z or Z-A . The column will immediately reorganize to show you the alphabetical list.

Sorting a Range

1Open the document you want to sort in Sheets. You can find this app in your app drawer or by tapping the app icon on your home screen.
- Use this method if you only want to sort a specific range instead of the whole sheet.

2Select the range you want to sort. Tap a cell and it will highlight. Drag that highlight to include every cell that you want to sort. Anything not highlighted will not change according to the sorting option, so be careful not to split your data!

Tap Create a filter . The filter toolbar will slide in from the bottom of your screen.

Tap the "Sort" icon. This button looks like three horizontal lines in the lower-right corner of your screen. It will open your "Sort and filter" menu.
- You can also tap the same icon in the first cell of the range you selected.

Select a sorting method. You can sort your column in alphabetical or reverse-alphabetical order. Selecting a method will reorganize and sort all the data in the selected column.
