    It is not an "either / or"--you can be serious, and you can also be fun sometimes. Practice standing in front of a mirror and smiling. Does it look natural? Have someone take a picture of you when you are laughing at a joke. Look at your expression in that picture. Can you recreate it? It may sound silly, but you can practice smiling and looking more relaxed.
