If you have really wavy, thick hair, and are still having troubles managing it, one possible solution is a keratin treatment. These are straightening services that can minimize some of the frizziness.
  • Question
Is there a routine for 2A hair?
    Marta Zakrzewski
    Community Answer
I’m between 2A and 2B. What I do is brush my hair before my shower. I shampoo my scalp/roots area and use conditioner on the hair from my ears to tops, and don’t put it on my scalp. I rinse, then lightly dry my hair with a towel. I let my hair air dry without touching it or lying on it, and when it’s just a little damp, I braid it and sleep. In the morning, I take it out slowly.
  • Question
Can I use Morrocan oil to keep my hair silky?
    Community Answer
Yes, but don't use too much or it will weigh down your hair and make it lose its volume. Also, using too much will make your hair look greasy.
  • Question
My hair is wavy and oily. Which type of shampoo and conditioner should I use?
    Erin G
    Community Answer
Herbal Essences and Alberto Balsam are great brands. Alberto Balsam has a sunkissed raspberry shampoo that's perfect for your hair type!
  • Question
Pantene has silicone, sulfate, and paraben. Isn't that bad for wavy hair?
    Community Answer
Yes, it is. My favorites are Herbal Essences and Alberto Balsam. I also suggest you air dry your hair and avoid using heat protectant. Doing this made my hair completely straight and it took 4 months to return to its original shape.

  • Question
What brush should I use? I can't comb my hair in the shower because it causes damage, and I find a comb ineffective.

Use a wet brush or a tangle teaser. Wet brushing does not cause damage if your hair is wet, unless your hair is straight.
  • Question
What brush should I use for wavy hair? I can't comb it in the shower because it causes damage, and a regular comb doesn't work well.
    Community Answer
Start with a wide-toothed comb, then use a detangling brush. Understanding your hair's porosity is also important.
  • Question
What type of brush should I use if I can't comb my wavy hair in or out of the shower?

    Community Answer
It's best to avoid combing your hair in the shower. Instead, try using a wide-tooth comb or a brush designed for curly hair when you're out of the shower. Applying a leave-in conditioner can work wonders, and jojoba or tea-tree oil may also be beneficial for your hair.

  • Question
I have kinda wavy hair, some strands are really wavy other are straight. How do I get my whole head to be wavy?
    AkitaMom
    Community Answer
After washing and conditioning, scrunch a gel or other product with hold into your hair. Scrunch from the bottom toward the scalp, this will encourage the waves, air dry or diffuse. Try to avoid daily washing and use a curl refresher on 2nd or 3rd day hair. There are commercial refreshers or you can make your own. I put water in a spray bottle and add a small amount of conditioner and styling gel, then spray and scrunch, let air dry.
  • Question
How much shampoo do I have to apply on my wavy hair?
    Community Answer
Squeeze about a quarter-sized circle into your hand, then scrub that into your roots. Use a little less conditioner.
