I don't see my serial or model number on your list. What is my generation? It is an 80 gm iPod #1136 TM 2007. The serial number ends in V9R.

I have the same generation iPod. The A1136 is a 5th generation iPod Classic. My serial number also ends with V9R. It's a 30G made in 2005.

What do I do if my iPod won't connect to my vehicle? What cable do I need?

If you are using an iPod classic or iPod touch 4th generation or older, a 30-pin cable (the wider charger design used by Apple on all new products until 2012) with both a USB and AUX on the end will get you the highest quality, as it was specifically designed for iPods. If your car is not recent enough to have an iPod port (which became mainstream in the mid-2000s) an AUX cable would work just fine, or purchase an FM transmitter if your car doesn't have an AUX jack. If you happen to have both a newer car with a USB port and an iPod with the Lighting cable, (the current, charger, which is slimmer) you can just plug the Lightning cable right into the car.
